This book describes the basic physical principles of the oxide/semiconductor epitaxy and offers a view of the current state of the field. It shows how this technology enables large-scale integration of oxide electronic and photonic devices and describes possible hybrid semiconductor/oxide systems. The book incorporates both theoretical and experimental advances to explore the heteroepitaxy of tuned functional oxides and semiconductors to identify material, device and characterization challenges and to present the incredible potential in the realization of multifunctional devices and monolithic integration of materials and devices. Intended for a multidisciplined audience, Integration of Functional Oxides with Semiconductors describes processing techniques that enable atomic-level control of stoichiometry and structure and reviews characterization techniques for films, interfaces and device performance parameters. Fundamental challenges involved in joining covalent and ionic systems, chemical interactions at interfaces, multi-element materials that are sensitive to atomic-level compositional and structural changes are discussed in the context of the latest literature. Magnetic, ferroelectric and piezoelectric materials and the coupling between them will also be discussed. GaN, SiC, Si, GaAs and Ge semiconductors are covered within the context of optimizing next-generation device performance for monolithic device processing.

Recovering the history of an often-ignored landmark Supreme Court case, William P. Hustwit assesses the significant role that Alexander v. Holmes (1969) played in integrating the South's public schools. Although Brown v. Board of Education has rightly received the lion's share of historical analysis, its ambiguous language for implementation led to more than a decade of delays and resistance by local and state governments. Alexander v. Holmes required ""integration now,"" and less than a year later, thousands of children were attending integrated schools. Hustwit traces the progression of the Alexander case to show how grassroots activists in Mississippi operated hand in glove with lawyers and judges involved in the litigation. By combining a narrative of the larger legal battle surrounding the case and the story of the local activists who pressed for change, Hustwit offers an innovative, well-researched account of a definitive legal decision that reaches from the cotton fields of Holmes County to the chambers of the Supreme Court in Washington.

This is a book which applies a groundbreaking new way of thinking to an ancient truth. The new way of thinking is called Neuro Linguistic Programming or NLP. It is the study of how successful people use their brains to achieve the results they do. It provides tools for working out how some people are so good at achieving the life results they want, and then tools for learning how to do that yourself. This way of thinking is also used in coaching, education, health care, and business. The ancient truth is that life is one indivisible unity. To actually experience this truth is bliss; it is to have a profound sense of the perfection of this moment and to treasure all that exists in it. It is to understand that love binds together all of life and all of time, and that we emerge out of this love. Combining NLP and Spirituality gives you the practical understandings and tools to touch what all human beings are seeking. In this book are a series of guided processes which invite you beyond ordinary consciousness, and which allow you to step out of the limitations of the past and experience the one great truth. "Prior to Integration, I had heard people talking about spirituality, and like many I found myself unable to describe, in real terms, what it is. Integration has provided the structure and process for spirituality, which now makes it real for me." - Pauline Young, Coach. "Chi kung exercises and NLP processes that took me to the state of "being".... If you are seeking enlightenment read this " - Chris Lampard, Business Trainer

In aerobic tissues such as heart, brain, kidney, liver and brown fat, mitochon- dria account for more than 20% of cell protein and play an essential role in res- piration, ATP formation, ketogenesis, gluconeogenesis, amino acid metabolism, ureagenesis, thermogenesis and a variety of other metabolic activities. The mecha- nisms by which these activities are integrated and regulated within the overall context of cellular physiology is of much current research interest. In order to bring together scientists examining the various diverse aspects of this overall pro- blem, an International Conference on INTEGRATION OF MITOCHONDRIAL FUNC- TION was held June 4-7, 1987 at the Hanes Art Center on the campus of the Uni- versity of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The chapters of this volume derive from presentations made at this conference. The focus of INTEGRATION OF MITOCHONDRIAL FUNCTION is on signifi- cant new experimental and theoretical advances concerning integration of mito- chondrial function at the organelle, cell, tissue and whole organism levels of organization.
Integration of Information and Optimization Models for Routing in City Logistics
?As urban congestion continues to be an ever increasing problem, routing in these settings has become an important area of operations research. This monograph provides cutting-edge research, utilizing the recent advances in technology, to quantify the value of dynamic, time-dependent information for advanced vehicle routing in city logistics. The methodology of traffic data collection is enhanced by GPS based data collection, resulting in a comprehensive number of travel time records. Data Mining is also applied to derive dynamic information models as required by time-dependent optimization. Finally, well-known approaches of vehicle routing are adapted in order to handle dynamic information models. This book interweaves the usually distinct areas of traffic data collection, information retrieval and time-dependent optimization by an integrated methodological approach, which refers to synergies of Data Mining and Operations Research techniques by example of city logistics applications. These procedures will help improve the reliability of logistics services in congested urban areas.?

Integration in Energy and Transport

Integration in Energy and Transport

Alexandros Petersen; Roy Allison

The South Caucasus has established itself as a corridor for transporting energy from Azerbaijan to Georgia, Turkey, and on to Europe, symbolized by the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline. This new infrastructure has created an east-west “Eurasian bridge” in which transnational extra-regional actors, especially the European Union and international financial institutions, have played a critical role. This book offers an original exploration of integration in the energy and transport sectors amongst Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Turkey, and the capacity of this to fundamentally change relations between these countries. In the period studied, from the mid-1990s to 2008, integration in energy and transport did not result in broader political, security, and sociocultural integration in any significant way. The author sets his analysis in a theoretical framework, drawing on theories of integration, but also grounds it in the detailed, empirical knowledge that is the measure of true expertise.
Integration of Services into Workflow Applications
Describing state-of-the-art solutions in distributed system architectures, Integration of Services into Workflow Applications presents a concise approach to the integration of loosely coupled services into workflow applications. It discusses key challenges related to the integration of distributed systems and proposes solutions, both in terms of theoretical aspects such as models and workflow scheduling algorithms, and technical solutions such as software tools and APIs.The book provides an in-depth look at workflow scheduling and proposes a way to integrate several different types of services into one single workflow application. It shows how these components can be expressed as services that can subsequently be integrated into workflow applications. The workflow applications are often described as acyclic graphs with dependencies which allow readers to define complex scenarios in terms of basic tasks.Presents state-of-the-art solutions to challenges in multi-domain workflow application definition, optimization, and executionProposes a uniform concept of a service that can represent executable components in all major distributed software architectures used todayDiscusses an extended model with determination of data flows among parallel paths of a workflow application Since workflow applications often process big data, the book explores the dynamic management of data with various storage constraints during workflow execution. It addresses several practical problems related to data handling, including data partitioning for parallel processing next to service selection and scheduling, processing data in batches or streams, and constraints on data sizes that can be processed at the same time by service instances. Illustrating several workflow applications that were proposed, implemented, and benchmarked in a real BeesyCluster environment, the book includes templates for
Integration Requirements for Immigrants in Europe
Based on legal-philosophical research, and informed by insights gleaned from empirical case studies, this book sets out three central claims about integration requirements as conditions for attaining increased rights (ie family migration, permanent residency and citizenship) in Europe:(1) That the recent proliferation of these (mandatory) integration requirements is rooted in a shift towards ‘individualised’ conceptions of integration.(2) That this shift is counterproductive as it creates barriers to participation and inclusion for newcomers (who will most likely permanently settle); and is normatively problematic insofar as it produces status hierarchies between native-born and immigrant citizens.(3) That the remedy for this situation is a firewall that disconnects integration policy from access to rights. The book draws on perspectives on immigrant integration in multiple EU Member States and includes legal and political reactions to the refugee/migrant crisis.
