Intermediate Biblical Hebrew Grammar

Intermediate Biblical Hebrew Grammar

Eric D Reymond

Society of Biblical Literature
2018
pokkari
This grammar is intended for intermediate or advanced students of Hebrew who wish to learn more about the history of the Hebrew language, specifically its phonology and morphology. Reymond focuses on aspects of Hebrew that will promote a student's retention of words and their inflection as well as those that will reinforce general principles of the language. Specific examples for memorization are outlined at the end of each chapter. The book also serves as a resource for students wishing to remind themselves of the relative frequency of certain phenomena. The book provides students with a full picture of the language's morphology by providing tables of the inflection of individual words for most classes of nouns and adjectives as well as tables that set similar verbal inflections side by side.
Jumpstart Your Workplace Culture: A Road Map for Igniting High Performance
How do certain businesses keep their employees engaged and avoid burnout through even the most challenging times? How can they continue to provide memorable customer experiences no matter what obstacles appear in their way?How do some leaders continue to inspire high performance while optimizing profits, growth, and retention?Thousands of books have been written about leadership and workplace culture, but many rely too much on abstract philosophy and head-scratching jargon. In Jumpstart Your Workplace Culture, Eric Stone breaks through the noise to give readers a practical road map for fostering a culture that yields results year in and year out. Influenced by his quarter-century of experience with one of America's most beloved brands, the book is loaded with interviews from senior corporate executives as well as real-life examples and anecdotes. With a distinctive approach that balances flexibility and accountability, Eric digs deep into his accumulated wisdom and experience to help readers know when--and how--to redirect their culture or take a new route. He equips you with everything you need to ignite and maintain a workplace that runs smoothly . . . and never again needs a jumpstart.

What if I told you that the American criminal justice system has never been about, is not set up to seek out, and is not equipped to find, justice -- at least "justice" as understood by most? In many ways, it was designed this way by the Founding Fathers based on Benjamin Franklin's vision that "it is better a hundred guilty persons should escape than one innocent person should suffer." Americans are taught that justice means fairness. They expect it from our legal system. "Equal Justice Under Law" is prominently inscribed on the Supreme Court. Yet law and justice in America are not necessarily the same thing. And they are certainly not applied in equal ways. The disconnect between these realities and what Americans are taught about justice has led to great strife in our society. But what if everyone grew up understanding the limitations of our justice system, yet understood what it is striving to achieve? Through the Revolutionary War, historic cases, civil unrest, Broken Windows law enforcement, corrupt police and attorneys, and jury bias, the lens through which you see the American justice system is about to change, all as told by former Baltimore prosecutor -- Eric Oberer. It is time for a paradigm shift...

Born with none of the five senses, how would a person have any connection with the world around them? Unable to see, hear, feel, smell, or taste, what kind of life could one possibly expect to have? Katherine Buchanan is an expectant mother, living in a new city, with no family, no friends (outside of her new neighbor Megan), and a husband who is growing increasingly distant. As her due date draws closer, odd coincidences begin to illustrate the importance of the choices she makes in her life and the "butterfly effect" she has on those around her. It's when the baby is born that Katherine's descent into madness begins. Following a stream of murder, deception, and suspense, she uncovers a plan that could lift mankind to glorious new heights or set the world to ruin. Set in Atlanta, Georgia, and Lakeside/Marblehead, Ohio, Butterfly Streams begins a series that explores how the choices we make daily affect the course of our lives, our careers, and our relationships with others, with ourselves, and with our Creator.

Caught in the Light is an arresting and eloquent poetry collection that evokes the poet's experience during and after her father's dying and death. At the same time, it pays homage to the land she inhabits with the rest of us, "a place where dark means dark," where, after her father's death, eagles still "wheel across flat gray sky, as if nothing/had ever changed." What she reveres-people she loves, land that is continually altered by humans-is also what she cannot hold onto, except in such poems as these. Walker is aperceptive and articulate observer, and this is an exceptional first book.-Andrea Hollander, author of Blue Mistaken for Sky Erika Walker's Caught in the Light confronts a "fractured map I could not read." The chronicle of her father's decline, Walker's poems issue from this rupture with scrupulous care and tenderness, measuring death against life with honesty and lyrical acuity. Yes, the world of father and daughter reverberates with loss; it is also replete with wonder, affection, and the small miracles of memory. Walker's exquisite attention conjures a ghost: "the slow wander/of his hands as they tunneled down the sleeves" and "yellow leather driving gloves/curled in the shape of his hands." These poems offer reassurance that what is most precious cannot be destroyed and will never really be lost to us.-Elizabeth Robinson, author of On Ghosts To be caught in the light of Erika Walker's chapbook is to feel the simultaneous beauty and terror of life. The wounds of loss splinter the soul, and light becomes both the puncture and our balm. Here we move through the relational landscapes of self, place, and family, delving deep into singular images that root in contemplation and stillness. She shows us how to remain grounded in times of turmoil. "Here is a place where aspen trace deep water/and the scree scree of the hawk stops your blood."-Andrea Rexilius, author of Sister Urn

The Power players is the first story to use real actors as the characters, who also play characters in a TV show within the storyline. This novella sweetens the dimensions of entertainment potential by allowing the reader to fall into the lives of actors who we all know, while simultaneously being introduced to a TV show they are producing.David Duchovny leads the journey as he works as producer on yet another presumed hit show, "David and Grey", starring himself. Jaclyn Smith is one of the more involved executive producers. Her essence brings a professionalism and calm maturity to counter the id of Duchovny. Babysitting the caricatures of Carla Gugino, Stephen Tobolowsky, Gary Cole, and then finally Sasha Grey, it becomes a curious case of a Long Island Iced Tea of personalities.A stalker announces his intention to kill Duchovny and Sasha. They're instructed to use the show to speak to the stalker to lure him out. Duchovny then finds himself trailed by every cast member, and those who want to be in the TV show, including Bob Saget.Duchovny has a confrontation with Danny Strong, a cut below Duchovny's taste who claims he's negotiating a deal with the writer of his current pilot, for yet another show called "Airstream". Duchovny takes it personally, because he wasn't informed, and sets out on a mission to be attached to "Airstream", while producing his current show, "David and Grey".In a complex set of circumstances, Duchovny must weave his life into negotiating not only with actors, but now the writer, whom they call E.D. He wants David & Grey renamed back to the original title, "Trade Wars", and have Sasha's character changed from rich girl to the original backstory of adult film star.Trying to please everyone makes Duchovny into a whore, while he ultimately sets out to please himself. Duchovny plays his expected essence as a tongue and cheek funny man, who isn't quite sure why he goes through so much trouble to win, but as he does, we like him more and more. The Power Players is a story about making a television pilot called "Trade Wars". It's also about negotiating for the rights to "Airstream" by the same writer. As we do, we fall into the "Trade Wars" pilot where Duchovny plays a former detective who gets out of jail after a frame job, and offered an underground law enforcement opportunity. The Power Players is everything you want in a story about the business. Playing in and out of the dysfunction of actors, the complexity of negotiating deals, all the while trying to avoid being killed by a civilian. In Hollywood, be careful what you wish for, because it may just come so true, it'll kill you. The Power Players is a high stakes game set as a treatment for a presumed TV series adaptation.

A storyline of the past, takes us to the present. Steve McQueen stumbled upon other activities in the sixties and seventies, ulimately paying a price for his long kept secret. Until now, nobody knew his beliefs, attitudes, or convictions regarding the rise and fall of American society. Not even his family was aware of what he was doing late at night, meeting with nefarious people, gathering intelligence, and acting as a patriot against those who wish to betray our intellectual property and national security. Ultimately this led to a decision laid upon McQueen only by circumstances God could provide, and in his final daliance into proving he was more than just a film actor and race car driver, whispering his angst to only one person in the spy industry. While working with an orphan of a younger generation named E, McQueen developed and trained this lonesome kid to find an identity while his partner in arms had ideas for making E into a younger version of McQueen.Today, E is on the move to save what is left of the McQueen dynasty. At the same time, McQueen's secret will be revealed to the world and his family; what McQueen was doing all those years and what part of history did he brand himself against. E whisked McQueen's granddaughter away from her normal life, the truth is revealed piece by piece as Molly McQueen can do nothing but understand how those pieces come together. E's movments become questionable as each move made was that of a chess piece, trained to lead the observer down a cold dark road, but not before revealing the final patriotic deed of McQueen that saved the heartbeat of America. The power of freedom has a price and escaping those who wish to take it is what entitles this story to play off the McQueen narrative. Getting Away is truly a notion within all of us.
