Les vari t s actuellement disponibles en Inde sont toutes import es moyennant le paiement d' normes redevances et, de plus, elles sont tr s sensibles au stress biotique et abiotique. Bien que le gerbera ait occup une place importante dans la floriculture indienne, aucune vari t n'est disponible en raison de son taux de multiplication initial, quelle que soit la vari t cr e. Les vari t s d' lite produites par diff rentes institutions n'ont pas atteint les cultivateurs en raison du manque de mat riel de plantation de bonne qualit . Il est n cessaire de d velopper une technologie de multiplication rapide qui pourrait tre r alis e par des techniques de micropropagation. Il est urgent de normaliser le protocole de multiplication grande chelle du mat riel v g tal d' lite. Par cons quent, le travail actuel se concentre sur la s lection de gerbera par accouplement de demi-fr res et soeurs et sur la micropropagation pour le d veloppement de nouveaux caract res tels que la couleur des fleurs, la forme des fleurs et la dur e de vie en vase.

Anche se la gerbera occupa un posto importante nella floricoltura indiana, non disponibile alcuna variet a causa del suo rapporto di moltiplicazione iniziale, qualunque sia la variet allevata.
