The art of Jeff Koons imagined anew, alongside more than 200 works from the acclaimed Pinault collection This new volume brings together the work of one of the most iconic living artists with over 200 pieces from the Museum of Civilizations of Europe and the Mediterranean in Marseille, France. Although his art encompasses a wide range of satirical sculptural work as well as digital collages and paintings, American sculptor Jeff Koons (born 1955) is best known for his unmistakable large-scale recreations of familiar objects in stainless steel. These famous mirror-finish works and other pieces from his oeuvre are placed in conversation with a series of selections from the Mucem archives, the result of a meticulous curatorial effort by the artist himself. The publication takes advantage of the richness of the Mucem’s collections, with everyday objects, traditional art, documents and photographs, encouraging readers to compare and contrast the artworks on levels both formal and symbolic.

I think everybody has their own passion their own thing that they're interested in, and then you are, very alert to the things that are in the sphere of influence of that passion.Do something you're very passionate about and don't try to chase what is kind of the hot passion of the day. You guys will find that you have passions and having a passion is a gift. I think we all have passions and you don't get to choose them, they pick you, but you have to be alert to them. You have to be looking for them and when you find your passion, it's a fantastic gift for you, because it gives you direction, it gives you purpose. My advice would be the same for any kind of entrepreneur, and that is making sure that you are focused on something you're passionate about. We are our choices, build yourself, a great story.(Jeff Bezos) The goal of this book is to give to Jeff Bezos, in his own words, to speak and explain what he thinks, what he wants and how he seesthe future.

Jeff Noon's "Vurt"

Andrew C. Wenaus

This book offers an examination of Jeff Noon’s iconoclastic debut novel, Vurt (1993). In this first book-length study of the novel, which includes an extended interview with Noon, Wenaus considers how Vurt complicates the process of literary canonization, its constructivist relationship to genre, its violent and oneiric setting of Manchester, its use of the Orphic myth as an archetype for the practice of literary collage and musical remix, and how the structural paradoxes of chaos and fractal geometry inform the novel’s content, form, and theme. Finally, Wenaus makes the case for Vurt’s ongoing relevance in the 21st century, an era increasingly characterized by neuro-totalitarianism, psychopolitics, and digital surveillance. With Vurt, Noon begins his project of rupturing feedback loops of control by breaking narrative habits and embracing the contingent and unpredictable. An inventive, energetic, and heartbreaking novel, Vurt is also anoptimistic and heartfelt call for artists to actively create open futures.

Elaborate Photographic Compositions Since the late 1970s, the Canadian artist Jeff Wall has contributed significantly to establishing photography as an autonomous medium, and is regarded as one of the key vanguards of “staged photography”. Referring to his approach as “near documentary”, his images resemble documentary photographs in style and manner, but instead are meticulously composed, multilayered compositions. Synthesizing photography with elements from other art forms such as painting, cinema, and literature—in a complex mode that he calls “cinematography”—his deeply intellectual work stages fictional realities, memories and past experiences in an elaborate process. Featuring more than fifty works, this catalogue accompanying the large-scale exhibition at the Fondation Beyeler juxtaposes Wall’s iconic backlit color transparencies with his more recent black and white photographs and color C-prints, revealing a variety of references in content and form.
