She must navigate the complex web of alliances and betrayals in order to protect herself and her loved ones. Along the way, she falls in love with a young man named Marcus, who shares her passion for politics and philosophy. The novel is rich in historical detail and accurately portrays the customs, traditions, and political climate of ancient Rome. It also sheds light on the role of women in Roman society and the challenges they faced in pursuing their own aspirations.Overall, Julia Valeria: A Story of Ancient Rome is a compelling and well-written novel that will appeal to fans of historical fiction and anyone interested in ancient Rome and its culture. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Julia Bulette and Other Red Light Ladies: An Altogether Stimulating Treatise on the Madams of the Far West
""Julia Bulette and Other Red Light Ladies"" is a fascinating account of the lives and times of the women who worked as madams and prostitutes in the Wild West. Written by historian Hillyer Best, this book offers a comprehensive overview of the world of prostitution in the 19th century, with a particular focus on the women who ran brothels and the challenges they faced in a society that often viewed them as outcasts.Through a combination of historical research and personal anecdotes, Best brings to life the stories of some of the most famous madams of the era, including Julia Bulette, who ran a successful brothel in Virginia City, Nevada, and was known for her kindness and generosity to the miners who frequented her establishment. Other notable figures include Belle Brezing, who operated a high-end brothel in Lexington, Kentucky, and was rumored to have had affairs with several prominent politicians and businessmen. In addition to these individual stories, ""Julia Bulette and Other Red Light Ladies"" also explores the broader social and cultural context of prostitution in the West, including the role of gender, race, and class in shaping attitudes towards sex work. Best also delves into the legal and economic aspects of the industry, examining the ways in which brothels were regulated and the ways in which madams were able to amass wealth and power.Overall, ""Julia Bulette and Other Red Light Ladies"" is a thoroughly researched and engagingly written account of a little-known aspect of American history. It offers a nuanced and sympathetic portrait of the women who worked in the sex trade, while also shedding light on the larger social and cultural forces that shaped their lives and experiences. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.

These are stories told to me when I was a child. One is about a boy who ran away from home. One is a true story just after the Civil War. Another is a true story told to my Grandmother by the main character in the story--but many years later. When it was bed time as a little kid in the 1950's, Grandma always told us stories. These are just some of the stories I remembered. Sadly Grandma has long since passed away but her stories remain with me.

Julia Song, CEO of Starlight Cosmetics, is at the height of her career. Then why does she feel like such a failure? Maybe because she's thirty and single, with a terrible track record at dating. And in the eyes of her Korean family, that is just unacceptable. It never really bothered her--that is until her beloved grandmother drops the bomb that she is sick and her dying wish is for Julia to get married. Impossible. So in a moment of weakness, Julia asks her family for help. Set her up on three dates to help her find The One. But it will never work--Julia is undateable. If only there was a coach for that... Tae Kim knows about the weight of familial expectation. He's currently unemployed, living in his parents' basement to care for his ill father. Sure, he's become somewhat of a fix-it man for the Korean community around town, but that's not a real job. And the pressure to get his life together is getting to be too much. So when the Julia Song--his childhood crush--asks for his help, it may be just the distraction he needs. He'll do whatever it takes, even coach her for these three dates.
