This passage, which has become a staple among so many Christians deserves a more in-depth exegesis to ensure that the original message of the author is not lost in the process. To be properly understood, this smaller passage must be considered within its relationship to the entirety of the Ephesian text. By exploring the historical background, the literary composition, and the text itself, it becomes clear that Ephesians 6:10-20, acting as a peroratio, concludes the epistle by linking Christian identity and unity together through foundational elements of spiritual warfare.
