1000 tulosta hakusanalla Lauri Ainala
In Revenge, Lauri Robertson's biting 6th volume of poetry, a woman becomes so angry that she throws a piece of plastic into the regular garbage instead of the recycling. But, it's not all a revenge-lite catalogue; note the Girl Scouts accidentally or otherwise leaving her out of the troop because her mother was in a psychiatric hospital. The vignettes resonate deeply, and remind the reader of their own stories. Robertson, who happens to be a psychoanalyst, makes unvarnished, dumbfounded inquiry into our nature(s). This is not appalling, worldly revenge, though perhaps some kind of understanding begins here.

Mary Magdalene is many things to many people, but to the initiated, she is the Beloved of Christ, his co-equal partner, and guardian of the mystical teachings and practices of the Western spiritual tradition. More than any other disciple, Mary understood the mystical, gnostic, and alchemical teachings of Jesus. Mary came to embody these teachings and was empowered by Christ to deliver these teachings to the Western world. Union - a Year of Spiritual Lessons and Practices with Mary Magdalene is a collection of lessons which when diligently applied, empowers the reader to experience the truth of Oneness (Union) that Jesus taught and which Mary Magdalene came to embody. These lessons were revealed to Lauri Ann Lumby through her intimate partnership with the Magdalene/Christ and support the reader's journey toward remembering their original nature as Love.

Considering Deweyan Cultural Naturalism as a Philosophy of Art(s) Education
Lauri Väkevä

2023
sidottu
This book makes a case for cultural naturalism as a basis for a philosophy of art education. It argues for a holistic approach that avoids hard boundaries between artistic disciplines in the educational context, applying cultural naturalism to challenges that are topical for the whole art(s) education field, including challenges related to ecology, social justice, and technological transformation of culture. The book is written in the form of a conditional argument that considers the consequences of cultural naturalism for today’s philosophical problem-solving in art(s) education. It contains a systematic and historical analysis of cultural naturalism that support the philosophical reflection of educators and other scholars operative in this field. The result is a late modern reading of Deweyan cultural naturalism that highlights the continuance of key philosophical ideas from the modern to present discourses. The key topics discussed are of particular interest to present-day art(s) educators: ecological sustainability, social justice, and technological transformation of culture. In addition, this book provides an example of pragmatist argumentation, suggesting an alternative to analytical and post-philosophical approaches.

Voicing Responsible AI Pedagogy for Music and Visual Arts Education
Lauri Väkevä
Springer International Publishing AG
2025
sidottu
This book critically examines the integration of generative artificial intelligence (Gen AI) in music education, exploring its transformative potential and associated risks. It underscores the necessity for innovative AI pedagogies across music and the arts, offering educators, researchers, and policymakers valuable insights for incorporating Gen AI into teaching while mitigating its hazards. By adopting a balanced critical perspective, the book aims to promote a dynamic, inclusive, and responsible educational approach that is responsive to the rapid advancements in adaptive technology. The book's argumentation is grounded in synthesizing Deweyan pragmatist and Baradian posthumanist philosophical perspectives. These perspectives collectively provide a framework for addressing the deployment of Gen AI in music education within a broader ethical context of global sustainability. The book is also informed by the author's many years as a scholar of music education.
In 1 Thess 1:8 Paul claims: "In every place your faith toward God has gone forth, so that we have no need to speak a word." We can smile at a call to stop missionary activity based on that verse. Lauri Thurén argues that Paul and his original addressees would smile at us for the very same reason, were they aware of many of the problems of modern Pauline scholarship. Expressions, which were never meant to be taken at their face value, may have promoted sophisticated but erroneous theological and historical reflections. This is due not only to the scholars' ignorance of ancient rhetorical and epistolary conventions, but also to their static attitude to the text itself.Lauri Thurén offers a different study which is based on a natural, dynamic view of Paul's letters. In order to describe any theology beyond the texts, they need to be derhetorized. This means an identification of the persuasive devices in Pauline texts in order to filter out their effect on the theological ideas expressed. This principle is applied to a controversial issue in Pauline theology, the question of law. Lauri Thurén claims that Paul's exaggerated statements correspond to his hyperbolic way of thinking. His search for consistency in the Old Testament was a major reason for his revolt against the law.
The Nature and Function of Intuitive Thought and Decision Making
Lauri Järvilehto
Springer International Publishing AG
2015
nidottu
This book focuses on the very nature and function of intuitive thought. It presents an up-to-date scientific model on how the non-conscious and intuitive thought processes work in human beings. The model is based on mainstream theorizing on intuition, as well as qualitative meta-analysis of the empirical data available in the research literature. It combines recent work in the fields of philosophy of mind, cognitive psychology and positive psychology. While systematic research in intuition is relatively new, there is an abundance of positions advocating more or less imaginative ideas of what intuition is about, ranging from quantum mechanical phenomena to new age ideologies. Research in the past few decades, in particular by proponents of the dual processing theory of thought such as Daniel Kahneman and Jonathan Evans, offers powerful tools to address and evaluate the question of intuition without the need to resort to spiritual entities. Within the framework of the dual processing theory, backed up by findings in positive psychology, intuition turns out to be the capacity to carry out complex cognitive operations within a specific domain of operations familiar to the agent.
