Interactive Financial Accounting Lab

Interactive Financial Accounting Lab

Ralph E. Smith; Patrick Birney

McGraw Hill Higher Education
2001
muu
"Interactive Financial Accounting Lab, Version 3", by Smith/Birney offers over 40 hours of exercises and feedback to help students learn financial accounting concepts. This software places the student in an office environment as if they were working for a company. After they complete each exercise they will be promoted and will receive salary adjustments based on their performance. The software provides students with immediate feedback, and allows instructor's to monitor the progress of their class on an individual basis. With the introduction of new technology, distance learning courses, and new accounting terminology, our authors met with our users to discuss changes needed to improve this market leading software. These changes will allow us to address the needs of students in the new millennium, and provide instructors with a more flexible product. Some of these changes include more evenly paced modules, the ability to communicate and update exercises via the Internet by students, and a more network friendly interface. In addition to new pedagogical changes, instructor's will be excited to see that the managerial aspects of this already powerful software got even better with the inclusion of spreadsheet type data to keep track of student performance throughout the year.
Le Role Meconnu de la Loi Salique

Le Role Meconnu de la Loi Salique

Ralph E. Giesey

The Social Gospel in Black and White

The Social Gospel in Black and White

Luker Ralph E.

In a major revision of accepted wisdom, this book, originally published by UNC Press in 1991, demonstrates that American social Christianity played an important role in racial reform during the period between Emancipation and the civil rights movement. As organizations created by the heirs of antislavery sentiment foundered in the mid-1890s, Ralph Luker argues, a new generation of black and white reformers--many of them representatives of American social Christianity--explored a variety of solutions to the problem of racial conflict. Some of them helped to organize the Federal Council of Churches in 1909, while others returned to abolitionist and home missionary strategies in organizing the NAACP in 1910 and the National Urban League in 1911. A half century later, such organizations formed the institutional core of America's civil rights movement. Luker also shows that the black prophets of social Christianity who espoused theological personalism created an influential tradition that eventually produced Martin Luther King Jr. |Examines the impact of the new wave of black and white reformers, many of them social Christians, who struggled for solutions to America's racial problems between 1885 and 1912.

Francogallia

Francogallia

François Hotman; Ralph E. Giesey

Cambridge University Press
2010
pokkari
For at least two centuries after its first appearance in 1573 Hotman's Francogallia influenced the way in which men regarded the European past and appraised the validity of political institutions. The intricate collation of the variorum Latin readings by Professor Giesey here demonstrates that nearly half the complete work consists of material added by Hotman to later editions in such a manner as substantially to modify the argument and balance of the original Francogallia. This definitive Latin edition contains a facing English translation by Professor Salmon, and a joint introduction in which the editors discuss the genesis and development of the text, which can no longer be regarded as written in response to the massacre of St Bartholomew. The editors analyse the discordant elements in Hotman's thought as his Calvinist background, his fundamentalism in both constitutional and religious doctrine and his ambivalent attitude to his profession as an eminent jurist.

When Jack "Goose" Givens first walked onto the basketball court at Lexington's Douglass Park for the legendary Dirt Bowl league, it was the beginning of one of the most illustrious sports careers in Kentucky history. After being named 1974's Mr. Basketball for the state of Kentucky as a high school senior, Givens signed with the University of Kentucky and went on to amass a string of achievements that place him among the all-time greats in NCAA college basketball—most notably leading UK to the 1978 NCAA Men's National Championship with his 41-point performance against the Duke Blue Devils in that historic game—and being named the Final Four Most Outstanding Player for that year. They Call Me Goose: My Life in Kentucky Basketball and Beyond is an intimate and all-encompassing look at the life and career of the basketball legend, from growing up in a housing project in Lexington, his success with UK men's basketball through his years with NBA's Atlanta Hawks and the Japan Basketball Association, his career as a college and NBA television color analyst, to his recent appointment as a commentator for the UK Sports Network. Givens shares personal and endearing stories from his childhood—how he was initially interested in baseball instead of basketball, the summers spent with his grandmother in Danville, Kentucky, and the teachers and coaches who guided and supported him along his journey. He also speaks candidly about his experiences with poverty, ruinous financial debt, the blowback from sexual assault allegations, and how his faith and his family helped sustain him through hardships and challenges. In collaboration with journalist Doug Brunk, Givens presents fans with the powerful story of a husband, father, mentor, businessman, and ambassador for Kentucky—who also just happens to be an iconic sports legend.
