It all begins with a box of duck eggs... and so too does this collection of tales of everyday rural life: in a restored sixteenth century country cottage, the joys of duck rearing and ownership, the mischievous antics of the resident Jack Russells, and a cockerel literally ruling the roost. This engaging and gentle memoir takes readers on a humorous journey through the rural idyll.Purchased in 1991 in the Herefordshire countryside, the cottage, previously unoccupied for four years, presents its own challenges to Marion and her husband as they work to create their perfect rural retreat. As if that wasn't enough, Marion steadily builds a menagerie around her: Cadfael and Cider are loyal canine companions, Russet the rooster a force to be reckoned with, and Moby Duck leads his entourage of feathered friends through endearing anecdotes.Puddles and Pals won't fail to make you smile.
Sherlock Holmes is a Yorkshireman, born and brought up on the North York Moors, but he spent much of his life at 221B Baker Street in London. He is more than a character from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's imagination. For many thousands of followers, he still lives in their minds through films, television, stage and radio plays, and written stories. Ever since Holmes first appeared in print, people have used the stories, together with knowledge of the culture of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, to speculate about his life. They wanted more than the 60 stories in the Canon. This speculation is known as The Game, and has included the writing of pastiches, tales which his friend Doctor Watson, and others, might have written, but never quite got around to publishing. Until now. Born and brought up in Leeds, Robert Stapleton is now retired and lives with his wife in North Yorkshire. In early 2015, David Marcum invited him to send him a story he had written, to be included in a new book of Sherlock Holmes stories, to be published by Steve Emecz, in support of the Stepping Stones school project. Over the following few years, he has written further pastiches, including some published by Derrick and Brian Belanger. A selection from all of these publications has been included in this collection. "Come, Watson, come " cries Sherlock Holmes in The Adventure of the Abbey Grange, "The game is afoot."

During the decolonization wars in East and Southern Africa, tracking became increasingly valuable as a military tactic. Drawing on archival research and interviews, Stapleton presents a comparative study of the role of tracking in insurgency and counter-insurgency across Kenya, Zimbabwe and Namibia.
It was autumn of 1986 in Columbia, SC, when a heinous crime was executed under cover of darkness onI-26. It left the people of the state outraged and an unsuspecting young family shattered. This is the rest of a powerful and inspiring story of love and forgiveness in the midst of devastation. It is the personal account and unforgettable testimony of the author. An innocent child was murdered: - If God is love, how could this happen?- Where were the angels who supposedly were protecting us?- Was this God's judgement on our sins?- Would we ever enjoy a normal life again?- Why do bad things happen to good people?- Why did this happen to us?
"Your love witnesses more than one thousand sermons."- Judge Hubert E. Long It was autumn of 1986 in Columbia, SC, when a heinous crime was executed under cover of darkness on I-26. It left the people of the state outraged and an unsuspecting young family shattered. This personal account and unforgettable testimony of Author Linda T. Stapleton is a powerful and inspiring story of love and forgiveness in the midst of devastation. In Above the Overpass, Linda shares her struggles to understand why an innocent child, her innocent child, was murdered and shares her life's journey to answer the following questions. - If God is love, how could this happen? - Where were the angels who supposedly were protecting us?- Was this God's judgement on our sins?- Would we ever enjoy a normal life again?- Why do bad things happen to good people?- Why did this happen to us? Linda writes, "I continued to ask 'why, ' which is a question certainly indulged by God, but it is the wrong question to ask of a Sovereign. We might do better to ask God, 'What are You teaching me' or 'What must I do next?"'
