Alexandra Cordes war Mitte der Achtziger Jahre auf dem H hepunkt ihrer schriftstellerischen Laufbahn. Ihre Romane st rmten regelm ssig die Bestsellerlisten. Sie war Auflagenmillion rin. ber 15 Millionen Mal wurden ihre B cher weltweit verkauft. Allein ihre Familiengeschichte ist so schillernd und farbig, dass sich daraus mehrere Romane schreiben lie en. Der Gro vater war Soldat im Boxeraufstand, die Gro mutter eine Jugendliebe von Albert Schweitzer und eine couragierte els ssische Lehrerin, die der Enkelin zeitlebens zur Seite stand, sie ermutigte und deren Leben Alexandra Cordes in einer Trilogie 1975 (Sag mir auf Wiedersehen) zum schriftstellerischen Durchbruch verhalf, eben auf die "Spiegel"-Bestsellerliste. Als Ursula Schaake in Bonn geboren, hatte sie sich in den 50er Jahren einen Volont rsplatz bei der "Times" erk mpft, der Schlappe einer Ablehnung durch Rowohlt 1964 tapfer entgegengearbeitet. Schlie lich unter dem Pseudonym rund 60 Romane geschrieben. Davon viele B cher, die sich ernsthaft der Zeitgeschichte oder aktuellen Problemen zuwandten. Ermutigt wurde sie dabei immer von ihrem Mann, dem erfolgreichen Autor und Publizisten Michael Horbach, der die Gesellschaft der Nachkriegszeit kritisch beleuchtete. Beide hatten sich Anfang der 50er Jahre in einer bekannten Bonner Intellektuellenkneipe kennen gelernt. Er war weitaus lter als sie, die gerade mal ihr Abitur gemacht hatte, und er war auch noch an eine andere Liebe gebunden, was beide nicht hinderte, sich einer wirklich verzehrenden Liebe hinzugeben. Doch am 26. Oktober 1986 fand diese Amour fatale in der Provence, wo sich Alexandra Cordes mit ihrem Mann ihr eigenes Paradies geschaffen hatte, ein j hes Ende.
