Babe Gordon, the star of this brilliant, sophisticated novel of modern New York’s racy set, is a strange woman. She uses her beauty and her sexual allure as a soldier uses his weapons—without mercy or scruples. Her basic appeal attracts all types of men, from bruisers of the prize ring to the more refined sons of the city’s aristocracy. From her experiences with men, she is canny, worldly wise, quick thinking. But all her art, her wisdom, and her actions are devoted to love. When her passion for one man cools, she is quick to kindle it in another. Men and their rages over her transient affection do not move her. Through a situation that costs one man his life, another man his career, and the disgrace of a third lover, Babe Gordon moves deftly, coolly, the goal of all men’s eyes, the ultimate femme fatale.

What does it mean to be a decent man? To love well, with fidelity and constancy? These are the lessons that Jake's father, a wildlife biologist, tries to impart to his son, often on fishing trips to their beloved Furnace Creek. Bound up in the laws of Einstein's theories, these lessons will ultimately influence Jake's own career as an astronomer. Out on the creek, both father and son conquer their greatest challenges: marital infidelity, professional setbacks, and Jake's long term, passionate obsession with his childhood crush. The Constant Heart is a potent, and moving book that utilizes the laws of nature and science to illuminate what it means to be a man today. It is an inspiring book that most immediately celebrates the bonds of father and son while exploring the beauty and intensity of love and the profound attachments between human beings, even in the face of great disease and danger.

Since established by the Founding Fathers, the Electoral College was designated to be appoint the president to ensure that the voting process was anti-majoritarian in nature. However, with the advancements of technology allowing for a meaningful and engaged popular vote to ensure the U.S. is led by a president who received the most votes, the Founders concerns about the inability for the country to run a meaningful nationwide election are no longer relevant, leaving room for change. In The Constant Two Plan: Reforming the Electoral College to Account for the National Popular Vote, Jay Wendland explores a novel approach to reforming the Electoral College to allocate for two electoral votes per state alongside the votes from the American public in order to bring the American presidential election process more in line with democratic norms and principles. Wedland demonstrates that the major extant reform plans in place would perform worse than the existing system and a new idea is needed. The Constant Two Plan remedies the small state bias, ensuring the popular vote winner becomes president, and acknowledges the federalist principle many have come to associate with the Electoral College.
