In the past five years, the field of electrostatic discharge (ESD) control has under gone some notable changes. Industry standards have multiplied, though not all of these, in our view, are realistic and meaningful. Increasing importance has been ascribed to the Charged Device Model (CDM) versus the Human Body Model (HBM) as a cause of device damage and, presumably, premature (latent) failure. Packaging materials have significantly evolved. Air ionization techniques have improved, and usage has grown. Finally, and importantly, the government has ceased imposing MIL-STD-1686 on all new contracts, leaving companies on their own to formulate an ESD-control policy and write implementing documents. All these changes are dealt with in five new chapters and ten new reprinted papers added to this revised edition of ESD from A to Z. Also, the original chapters have been augmented with new material such as more troubleshooting examples in Chapter 8 and a 20-question multiple-choice test for certifying operators in Chapter 9. More than ever, the book seeks to provide advice, guidance, and practical ex amples, not just a jumble of facts and generalizations. For instance, the added tailored versions of the model specifications for ESD-safe handling and packaging are actually in use at medium-sized corporations and could serve as patterns for many readers.

Content Management for E-Learning

Springer-Verlag New York Inc.

The increasing growth in the use of e-learning environments, in which education is delivered and supported through information and communication technologies, has brought new challenges to academic institutions. From all the current definitions of e-learning, it can be seen that learning contents are one of the key issues for a successful e-learning experience. Therefore, there is a real need for academic staff, managers and librarians to re-think the whole process of delivering courses, information resources and information services. The book focuses on defining content management and its relationship with knowledge management, providing perspectives on how the semantic web could complement content management, how to deal with copyright restrictions, and how to describe information competencies and skills required and acquired by teachers and students in virtual environments. Offered is a design project for managing digital content for classical and distance education institutions, covering all the aspects related to the content lifecycle, integrating it into the learning process. Practical aspects such as standards for content e-learning management, a review of existing experiences of learning repositories, and a survey of available platforms for delivering courses and providing access to information resources is also covered. Lastly, the book addresses the three main factors which make it crucial in the current context: first, the web 2.0 paradigm, which breaks the content producer-consumer barrier; second, the open content movement for educational purposes, which changes the knowledge management transference model; and third, the new European Higher Education Area, where the concept of content needs to be rethought.

Content Is The New Sourcing: Strategies for Attracting and Engaging Passive Candidates
ATTN: RECRUITERS, SOURCERS, TALENT ACQUISITION MANAGERS and HR LEADERSHIP There is talent out there. Good talent. Talent you desperately want to hire but, guess what? They are hiding from you, do not have their resumes posted online or are rarely open to new opportunities. So, how do you reach people like that? You get them to come to you. How? Content. That's what this book is about. In this follow-up to his book, "Resume Forensics," Jim Stroud discusses a marketing approach to sourcing passive candidates. Although boolean search string and keyword strategies are explored, this piece delves more into attracting candidates via a psychology and personalization methodology.SOME OF THE IDEAS AND STRATEGIES INCLUDED IN THIS WORK ARE: # Content is the new sourcing and that is good for recruiting. # Content is the new sourcing and that is bad for recruiting. # Some people do not want to be found by recruiters and here is the proof. # How to attract the people you want to hire while outfoxing your competition at the same time. # How to find quality content to share with your audience # Lots and lots of strategies for developing content when you don't have the time to do so # How to gauge your employment brand # How to monitor your competition's employment brand # How to make your sourcing team more efficient # How to engage passive candidates so they'll call you back # What to do with the people you do not hire RECRUITERS & SOURCERS: If you search for talent that is online, you risk bombarding the same candidates your competition is trying to recruit. However, if you can manage to lure them to you then there is less competition and you are speaking to those you most want to hire. TALENT ACQUISITION MANAGERS: If your recruiting team is solely focused on reacting to the needs of your clients, you are missing out on the "A" players trying their best to ignore you. The strategies herein make a compelling argument on why a proactive strategy is best for long-term and continued recruitment success. HR LEADERSHIP: Sourcing is not wholly separate from marketing. Ideally, it is an extension of it. Read this book and see why you should be marrying the recruitment function to your marketing team. Implement the ideas herein and gain a strategic advantage over your business rivals.

What matters in people’s social lives? What motivates and inspires our society? How do we enact what we know? Since the first edition published in 1980, Content Analysis has helped shape and define the field. In the highly anticipated Fourth Edition, award-winning scholar and author Klaus Krippendorff introduces readers to the most current method of analyzing the textual fabric of contemporary society. Students and scholars will learn to treat data not as physical events but as communications that are created and disseminated to be seen, read, interpreted, enacted, and reflected upon according to the meanings they have for their recipients. Interpreting communications as texts in the contexts of their social uses distinguishes content analysis from other empirical methods of inquiry. Organized into three parts, Content Analysis first examines the conceptual aspects of content analysis, then discusses components such as unitizing and sampling, and concludes by showing readers how to trace the analytical paths and apply evaluative techniques. The Fourth Edition has been completely revised to offer readers the most current techniques and research on content analysis, including new information on reliability and social media. Readers will also gain practical advice and experience for teaching academic and commercial researchers how to conduct content analysis.
