Vulture funds, funds that buy up the debt of sovereign countries at a discount in the hope of making significant profits, have caused considerable problems to a number of highly indebted countries. The Commonwealth Secretariat’s Legal Debt Clinic advises governments on best practice in negotiating loan agreements, and how to respond to the activities of vulture funds. This handbook distils the key lessons from that work, for the benefit of all government officials who may have to deal with these issues.

The thoughts stir within like the current of events enforcing the words to find existence in expression. There is a turmoil of the flow of the unknown source yet to be explored and experienced like a river flowing within. The expression in words finds meaning through the prism of a poem. It is here that my joys and sorrows, my passions and thoughts, my failures and attainments, my downfalls and elevations find solace in that beam of fluorescence and indeed the unknown mysteries expose as the ray of light emerges from darkness.

1,001 Voices on Climate Change

Devi Lockwood

Simon Schuster

Join journalist Devi Lockwood as she bikes around the world collecting personal stories about how flood, fire, drought, and rising seas are changing communities. It’s official: 2020 will be remembered as the year when apocalyptic climate predictions finally came true. Catastrophic wildfires, relentless hurricanes, melting permafrost, and coastal flooding have given us a taste of what some communities have already been living with for far too long. Yet we don’t often hear the voices of the people most affected. Journalist Devi Lockwood set out to change that. In 1,001 Voices on Climate Change, Lockwood travels the world, often by bicycle, collecting first-person accounts of climate change. She frequently carried with her a simple cardboard sign reading, “Tell me a story about climate change.” Over five years, covering twenty countries across six continents, Lockwood hears from indigenous elders and youth in Fiji and Tuvalu about drought and disappearing coastlines, attends the UN climate conference in Morocco, and bikes the length of New Zealand and Australia, interviewing the people she meets about retreating glaciers, contaminated rivers, and wildfires. She rides through Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia to listen to marionette puppeteers and novice Buddhist monks. From Denmark and Sweden to China, Turkey, the Canadian Arctic, and the Peruvian Amazon, she finds that ordinary people sharing their stories does far more to advance understanding and empathy than even the most alarming statistics and studies. This book is a hopeful global listening tour for climate change, channeling the urgency of those who have already glimpsed the future to help us avoid the worst.

Understanding Workplace Bullying

This book examines the ethical and legal aspects of workplace bullying from a global perspective. Through an in-depth exploration of this psychologically destructive managerial technique, it identifies workplace bullying as a highly potent tool in the short term to increase employee performance. By deconstructing and exposing the dark side of workplace bullying, not as a psychological harmful component, not as a health-related stress issue, but instead as a management tool to exercise totalizing control over the employee, this book explores the ethical modalities which managers tend to cross on a daily basis to get things accomplished within an organization. This book offers researchers a thorough examination of management responsibilities and the power of enforcement strategies used by managers.

This book on entrepreneurship, compiles a series of evidence-based episodes from the lives of the marginalized and the minority-oriented entrepreneurs to comprehend whether entrepreneurship is truly a socio-economic emancipatory strategy. Varying experiences of entrepreneurs, from different geographical territories, origins and gender are examined under a critical lens to deconstruct its emancipatory potential and appreciate its power in generating human freedom, equal opportunities, and in uplifting the oppressed and suppressed classes globally. In specific the book explores entrepreneurs located in two geographically diverse regions across the world. The social entrepreneurs in the contested region of Palestine and the black and ethnic entrepreneurial group based in Georgia, United States. The book is a planned and purposeful compilation of raw [i.e., in terms of emotions and feelings], untold stories of entrepreneurs who have embraced entrepreneurship to eradicate their harsh realities and subsequently emancipate themselves. The book integrates a critical perspective, encompassing a variety of theoretical frameworks such as critical race theory, critical theory, critical realism and different power modalities and philosophies to investigate the emancipatory potential of entrepreneurship and justify it as a socio-economic emancipatory strategy. This book ventures into the murky and dark waters of entrepreneurship by exploring this concept within the black and immigrant communities, as a collective social entrepreneurship reform movement, female entrepreneurship, informal entrepreneurship operating under occupation, to provide detailed insights on bricolage and other complexed economic issues.

Nanogels are non-ionic and ionic nanosystems that are made from physically or chemically cross-linked polymers, either hydrophilic, hydrophobic, or amphiphilic. The nanogel-forming materials may also consist of polysaccharides and proteins, which are selected based on their biodegradable, less immunogenic response. These are made to be particularly successful in increasing the drug payload in the targeted region and controlling the propensity of all the other nanocarriers to leak the loaded bioactive. NGs with a diameter ranging between 1 and 1000 nm integrate the properties of hydrogels and nanomaterials. A novel drug transporter ought to have two primary characteristics: it should carry the drug at the desired rate and it should successfully deliver the medication to the target site. As a result, nanogels possess several sophisticated properties that can aid in the development of new delivery systems. A nanogel is defined as "a semisolid system consisting of a dispersion made up of either small inorganic particles or big organic particles contained and interpenetrated by liquid" by the United States Pharmacopoeia.
