Dieses Buch wurde mitder Absicht geschrieben, Eigenschaften, Kennwerte, Formeln und Prinzipien bei Konstruktion und Berechnung von geschwei ten Aluminium- Konstruktionen zusammenzustellen. Es ist bestimmt als Arbeits- und Entschei- dungshilfe fiir den Ingenieur in der Praxis, aber auch als Lehrbuch fiir Studenten des konstruktiven I ngenieurbaus. Obwohl heute Aluminium nach Stahl das am meisten verwendete Metall ist, tragen Ausbildungsplane und -moglichkeiten diesem Zustand nur unzureichend Rechnung. Andererseits erscheint demnachst die Neufassung der DI N 4113 T1 und T2 "Alu- miniumkonstruktionen unter vorwiegend ruhender Belastung - Konstruktion und Berechnung". Der Schwerpunkt dieses Buches liegt dementsprechend in der Be- schreibung des Tragverhaltens geschwei ter Aluminiumbauteile sowie der Erlaute- rung und Erganzung entsprechender Richtlinien zur Bemessung und Gestaltung. Es wird keine enzyklopadische Darstellung samtlicher Daten iiber Aluminium vor- genommen. Hierzu gibt es sehr gute Nachschlagwerke mit einer Fiille von Informa- tionen iiber spezielle Gebiete. Es wird vielmehr versucht, den Erfordernissen der Lehre und der Anwendung in der Praxis in iibersichtlicher Weise zu entsprechen, wobei insbesondere Konstruktionen des Bauwesens betrachtet werden. Die be- schriebenen Eigenschaften, die Ausfiihrung und das Verhalten der geschwei ten Verbindungen, verschiedene Bemessungsregeln konnen jedoch im Prinzip fiir Kon- struktionen des Verkehrswesens sowie des Behalter- und Apparatebaus iibernom- men werden. Kapitel 1 stellt eine kurze Einleitung zum Thema der geschwei ten Aluminium- konstruktionen dar. Eine Beschreibung des Werkstoffes Aluminium, seines Gefiige- aufbaus, seiner Legierungen und des Halbzeugs fiir den konstruktiven I ngenieurbau sowie wichtige physikalische Eigenschaften sind im Kapitel 2 (G. Steidl) behandelt.

Books on a technical topic - like linear programming - without exercises ignore the principal beneficiary of the endeavor of writing a book, namely the student - who learns best by doing course. Books with exercises - if they are challenging or at least to some extent so exercises, of - need a solutions manual so that students can have recourse to it when they need it. Here we give solutions to all exercises and case studies of M. Padberg's Linear Optimization and Exten­ sions (second edition, Springer-Verlag, Berlin, 1999). In addition we have included several new exercises and taken the opportunity to correct and change some of the exercises of the book. Here and in the main text of the present volume the terms "book", "text" etc. designate the second edition of Padberg's LPbook and the page and formula references refer to that edition as well. All new and changed exercises are marked by a star * in this volume. The changes that we have made in the original exercises are inconsequential for the main part of the original text where several ofthe exercises (especiallyin Chapter 9) are used on several occasions in the proof arguments. None of the exercises that are used in the estimations, etc. have been changed.

Wer tragt das Schadensrisiko aus dem Funktionieren von -polizeilich- uberwachten Wirtschaftszweigen wie dem Bank- und Versicherungswesen? Der Staat oder der einzelne Unternehmenskunde? Diese Frage, die vor allem bei Konkursen aktuell wird, wurde nach deutschem Recht im wesentlichen anhand der Schutznormlehre beantwortet, die eine Unterscheidung zwischen offentlichen und privaten Interessen bzw. zwischen den verschiedenen Schichten der Aufsicht verlangt. Nach franzosischem Recht spielt der Begriff des schweren Amtsfehlers eine ahnliche abgrenzende Rolle. Der funktionale Rechtsvergleich zeigt, dass die Staatshaftung aus der Wirtschaftsaufsicht zugunsten der unternehmerischen Freiheit und des Staatsfinanzenschutzes in der Privatwirtschaft grundsatzlich abgelehnt wird. Dazu waren die verfassungsrechtlich kritisierten und jedenfalls unbilligen gesetzlichen Haftungsausschlusse nach deutschem und griechischem Recht eher uberflussig. Deshalb erscheint ihre restriktive Auslegung geboten. Einen volligen Schutz Dritter gegen alle Missstande kann jedoch die Staatsaufsicht schon aus institutionellen Grunden nicht garantieren, was das Bedurfnis nach wirksamen privaten Sicherungseinrichtungen belegt."

It was an honor and a privilege to chair the 24th IFIP International Information Se- rity Conference (SEC 2009), a 24-year-old event that has become a tradition for - formation security professionals around the world. SEC 2009 was organized by the Technical Committee 11 (TC-11) of IFIP, and took place in Pafos, Cyprus, during May 18–20, 2009. It is an indication of good fortune for a Chair to serve a conference that takes place in a country with the natural beauty of Cyprus, an island where the hospitality and frie- liness of the people have been going together, hand-in-hand, with its long history. This volume contains the papers selected for presentation at SEC 2009. In response to the call for papers, 176 papers were submitted to the conference. All of them were evaluated on the basis of their novelty and technical quality, and reviewed by at least two members of the conference Program Committee. Of the papers submitted, 39 were selected for presentation at the conference; the acceptance rate was as low as 22%, thus making the conference a highly competitive forum. It is the commitment of several people that makes international conferences pos- ble. That also holds true for SEC 2009. The list of people who volunteered their time and energy to help is really long.

This volume is critical to the two dominant historiographical narrations on the topic of Balkan revolutions. The reproductive ecology of three species of decapod crabs, the shore crab (Carcinus maenas), the velvet crab (Necora puber) and the edible crab (Cancer pagurus), were studied in Swansea Bay and south Gower. The genetic makeup of the shore crab populations present in Swansea Queen's Dock and Mumbles Pier was compared using SSCP and cloning analysis of the 16S rRNA. Four different haplotypes were identified, with low level of genetic divergence, and close relationship of the identified haplotypes with published shore crab haplotypes. AMOVA showed no significant difference between the study populations and published shore crab haplotypes. However, all identified haplotypes were different from published shore crab haplotypes, indicating a degree of reproductive isolation of the Swansea shore crab populations. Analysis of the permit return data for 1980-2002 of the edible and velvet crab fishery for the South Wales Sea Fisheries Committee District indicated that a combination of factors including overfishing, environmental conditions, and the "Sea Empress" oil spill in 1996 have contributed to a decline in landings that continues to date with limited signs of recovery.
