O livro avaliou as melhores alternativas e corrigiu as inconsist ncias do TCC.

Work that sought to know the effectiveness of homeopathy against ticks in cattle, since there is much controversy on the subject. The idea of the research arose by the intoxication that the author suffered by cypermethrin to apply by spraying in dairy cattle and its consequences, sought alternative treatments to ticks, finding homeopathy as one of the alternatives. When becoming a student of the Course of Biological Sciences sought to investigate the real action of homeopathy, developing research work that generated the TCC (Work of Course Completion) presented to FACIP / UFU in 2011, under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Edmundo Benedetti, co guidance of Prof. Dr. Gabriela L cia Santos Ferreira and assistance of Rafael Henrique Ribeiro de Morais, confirming the suspicion of action, but generating some doubts about the reproduction of the results in equal conditions. The book evaluated the best alternatives and corrected the inconsistencies of the TCC. Through data and information it was observed that homeopathy is effective and that there is a need to know more about this treatment option against ectoparasites, reducing the use of pesticides.

The classic guide to mixtures, completely updated with new models, theories, examples, and data. Efficient separation operations and many other chemical processes depend upon a thorough understanding of the properties of gaseous and liquid mixtures. Molecular Thermodynamics of Fluid-Phase Equilibria, Third Edition is a systematic, practical guide to interpreting, correlating, and predicting thermodynamic properties used in mixture-related phase-equilibrium calculations. Completely updated, this edition reflects the growing maturity of techniques grounded in applied statistical thermodynamics and molecular simulation, while relying on classical thermodynamics, molecular physics, and physical chemistry wherever these fields offer superior solutions. Detailed new coverage includes: Techniques for improving separation processes and making them more environmentally friendly. Theoretical concepts enabling the description and interpretation of solution properties. New models, notably the lattice-fluid and statistical associated-fluid theories. Polymer solutions, including gas-polymer equilibria, polymer blends, membranes, and gels. Electrolyte solutions, including semi-empirical models for solutions containing salts or volatile electrolytes. Coverage also includes: fundamentals of classical thermodynamics of phase equilibria; thermodynamic properties from volumetric data; intermolecular forces; fugacities in gas and liquid mixtures; solubilities of gases and solids in liquids; high-pressure phase equilibria; virial coefficients for quantum gases; and much more. Throughout, Molecular Thermodynamics of Fluid-Phase Equilibria strikes a perfect balance between empirical techniques and theory, and is replete with useful examples and experimental data. More than ever, it is the essential resource for engineers, chemists, and other professionals working with mixtures and related processes.

In the past decades the role of the State has undergone major alterations regarding supply of goods and services in general, particularly housing supply. There is a clear trend towards less direct intervention of the public agents in the supply process, encouraging participation of non-public agents, such as the private sector, NGO's (non-governmental organisations, with a volunteer character), and communities that receive goods and services -- in this case, housing. This is certainly a global trend encompassing both industrially advanced and developing countries. The mechanism of supplying housing or other goods and services consists of several elements, such as planning, financing, management, production, monitoring and supervision. The general supply pattern is defined by how these elements are distributed among public and non-public agents. The following questions are essential in this context: how are these elements distributed? What is the appropriate relation for a certain context? This book approaches these questions by means of a comparative analyses of different modes of housing provision emphasising the relations between public and non-public agents. To this end it uses case studies in Sao Paulo, Brazil where the fieldwork for the research was conducted. Nevertheless, the findings of the book have much wider implications for housing policy formulation and market development in developing countries as a whole.
Geometry at the Quantum Scale

Geometry at the Quantum Scale

This book presents a single geometric language for the fundamental physics that has been discovered from the beginning of the twentieth century to the present day. The first two chapters give a brief summary of the four known fundamental forces, namely the three known gauge forces (the electromagnetic and the two nuclear forces) and the gravitational force. These chapters also summarize the main experimental results from high energy physics, including the implications of the existence of the Higgs particle discovered at the LHC, and the implications of recent astronomical observations. The subsequent chapters include quantum gravity based on the consequences of the't Hooft-Veltman renormalization theorem for gauge fields and the non-renormalization of Einstein's gravitational field of General Relativity. The main focus of the book is to show that the three gauge forces are defined in the quantum domain, while Einstein's gravitation remains an essentially classical interaction. However, the main implication of Einstein's reasoning is built into the Einstein-Hilbert action principle, which is independent of the source of gravitation. As such, the Einstein-Hilbert principle by itself does not depend on any specific source, leading to a gravitational field that is far more general than that defined by General Relativity, while retaining all its geometrical characteristics. This makes a key difference in the sense that all four fundamental interactions may now be defined in the same quantum domain. Einstein's classical theory of General Relativity becomes a particular case of the quantum gravitational field defined by the Einstein-Hilbert action. At the quantum scale, the direct sum of the resulting four geometries produces an 11-dimensional Riemannian geometry whose curvature defines a new quantum cosmology without hierarchies, so that all fundamental interactions contribute effectively to the evolution of the universe, a result that is of interest to high energy physicists, cosmologists, mathematicians, philosophers and all those who seek a plausible explanation for the physical world.

The Many Faces of Maxwell, Dirac and Einstein Equations

Maxwell, Dirac and Einstein’s equations are certainly among the most imp- tant equations of XXth century Physics and it is our intention in this book to 1 investigate some of the many faces of these equations and their relationship and to discuss some foundational issues involving some of the theories where they appear. To do that, let us brie?y recall some facts. Maxwell equations which date back to the XIXth century encodes all cl- sical electromagnetism, i. e. they describe the electromagnetic ?elds generated by charge distributions in arbitrary motion. Of course, when Maxwell f- mulated his theory the arena where physical phenomena were supposed to occur was a Newtonian spacetime, a structure containing a manifold which is 3 di?eomorphic to R×R , the ?rst factor describing Newtonian absolute time 2 [25] and the second factor the Euclidean space of our immediate perception . In his original approach Maxwell presented his equations as a system of eight linear ?rstorderpartialdi?erentialequations involvingthe components of the electricandmagnetic?elds[17]generatedbychargeandcurrentsdistributions 3 with prescribed motions in vacuum . It was only after Heaviside [12], Hertz and Gibbs that those equations were presented using vector calculus, which by the way, is the form they appear until today in elementary textbooks on Electrodynamics and Engineering Sciences. In the vector calculus formalism Maxwell equations are encoded in four equations involving the well known divergentandrotationaloperators.

The countries of the Eastern Europe and Central Asia region have made significant progress in reducing poverty in the past five years. More than 40 million people moved out of poverty during 1998-03. Much of this poverty reduction derives from the growth rebound in the CIS countries. But poverty and vulnerability still remain a significant problem. More than 60 million are poor and more than 150 million are vulnerable. Most of the poor are the working poor. Many others face deprivations in terms of access and quality of public services. Regional inequalities both between and within countries are large. The highest levels of absolute poverty are found in the poor countries of Central Asia and the South Caucasus, but most of the region's poor and vulnerable are in middle income countries. Notwithstanding the tremendous heterogeneity among countries in the region, reducing poverty and vulnerability requires an acceleration of shared growth across the region. If this is to be achieved, public policies need to focus on at least three areas common to all countries: fostering job creation and raising productivity, improving public service delivery, and addressing spatial inequalities. Within each of these areas, recommendations need to be tailored to country-specific circumstances.
