Sam the Ant is a bilingual children's series of books by father-daughter duo Sam Sierra-Feldman and Enrique C. Feldman. Book 4 is a continuation of what is one large story. Each book rises in complexity from PreK/K - Middle School. Book 4 is for ages approx. 5 - 8. Each book takes place in a different location.
Sam the Ant, Sandy the Ant, and Drag the Dragonfly find themselves in the drainage pipes under San Francisco. The Ants discover an upper passage and end up in a place of all white, when all of sudden tragedy sets in Meanwhile, Drag searches the tunnels and eventually is confronted with a dangerous decision. A massive wall of water approaches, and Drag can see Sam and Sandy inside a plastic globe. Confused and scared, Drag decides to brave the wave and attempt to save his friends. Each book comes with a unique parent guide and learning guide, which are scaffolded for beginning to intermediate to advanced parenting, just as the books are scaffoled with regards to reading complexity. These books address the important messages of: embracing multiple perspectives, seeing adversity as an ally, and diversity as strength.
