As a Retiree, I am enjoying life each day with a thankful and humbled heart. I keep writing so that my children and children's children will be inspired to write their words of inspiration to uplift their fellowmen of their generation. This book, The Majestic Heavens, came out of my love for nature to include the sky above or the Heavens. I became captivated with the formation of clouds, especially when I take to the sky flying in airplanes. I have seen some of the most captivating clouds up above and flown through those captivating clouds. On one of my flights, I saw the formation of a church's steeple and was mesmerized. This love affair with the clouds have been for many years and I finally decided to share the beauty of the Heavens with my friends and on social media and realized that not too many people stopped to observe or chase the heavenly clouds. Therefore, the birth of this my eighth book. Please enjoy and take the time to look up and see the Majestic Heavens with awesome formations of Clouds towering over our amazing Earth we call our home. There is beauty within us, around us and above us.
This book gives the reader an opportunity to pause, reflect and capture the high/low or in between moments of his or her life, whether it's about love, family, friends, marriage, social relationships, careers, to name a few aspects of life. I've tried primarily to rely on my own understanding of life, but I don't stop there. I've benefitted from sharing in the joys, sadness and anxieties of many ordinary human beings whom I've met in my capacity as parent, teacher, professor, Sunday school teacher and community worker. Many years of active engagement in these capacities have provided me with many insights about life, and as an educator, I've taken time out to reflect on the implications obtained from other people's life experiences, as well as mine. I'm a better person, because of invited engagement in discussions pertaining to the life experiences of others.
Dr. the Right Excellent Sir Kennedy Alphonse Simmonds, the only living National Hero of St. Kitts and Nevis, was the first Prime Minister of this great country. He contested nine general elections--1966, 1971, 1975, 1980, 1984, 1989, 1993, 1995 and 2000--the most in our history since adult suffrage in 1952. This book chronicles Sir Kennedy's humble upbringing in Basseterre's Rosemary Lane. At the age of nine, Sir Kennedy entered the St. Kitts-Nevis Grammar School on an entrance scholarship as one of the youngest-ever pupils. Although he never kept a diary, Dr. Simmonds uses his powerful memory for meticulous detail to walk his reader through university and medical school, and on to his early career as an anaesthesiologist. His historic foray into Caribbean politics is a must-read documentary of how this twin-island state (which was once tripartite) was guided out of colonialism without further fragmentation. Sir Kennedy's is a life well-lived. He loved the arts, literature, music, and theatre, often playing the lead in dramatic productions. He was a leader in school and in the Methodist Church Sunday School. His love of cricket, soccer, American football, baseball, tennis and basketball is passionate and pervasive, and his words ring with the enjoyment he takes in these activities. His disciplined no-nonsense approach to duty belies his easygoing "one of the boys" style in his leisure time, which is colourfully reflected in this volume. His love for family, camaraderie, a ready laugh, his genuineness as a friend and his modest appreciation for the finer things in life, are the things one remembers most clearly about Sir Kennedy. Nothing went to his head and he was never susceptible to greed or envy.Sir Kennedy talked about publishing his more important speeches, but that idea morphed into this conversational recollection of his great life, transcribed while he is yet vibrant, at peace with himself, and able to enjoy the accolades he so richly deserves.Dr. the Right Excellent Sir Kennedy Alphonse Simmonds belongs in the pantheon of National Heroes of St. Kitts and Nevis. He played a vital role in one of the most tumultuous periods in the history of the modern Caribbean, showing poise, grace and dogged determination.

It is June 1884, a grey period for both the weather and Sherlock Holmes' mood. A lack of compelling cases has left him bored and close once again to the dull embrace of the needle. Less than a month earlier, however, he had astonished Inspector Lestrade and everyone around him by solving no less than six crimes in consecutive days. At the eleventh hour, Inspector Gregson arrives, with the promise of an impossible crime to solve. A murder has shattered the bucolic peace of the sleepy arable farmlands of Bedfordshire. The owner of a small stately home has been brutally killed while hosting a dinner party. But what and where is the murder weapon? What follows is an epic, sweeping tale. From England to Africa, from poverty to wealth, the story spans decades. Hardship and friendship are followed by betrayal, deception and murder.

His investigations lead him and his companion into a murky conspiracy - a sinister secret society plotting a fiendish scheme that could destroy the British economy and bring down the government. From a thunderous carriage chase through the streets of London to a deadly shootout on a remote island off the North-East coast of England, can Holmes and Watson uncover the dark secret that lies within the sinister 'Ex Tenebris' club?
