Detective Roger Viceroy, divisional head of the Midwest Region Special Crimes Unit, awakes one morning to a bombing in a wealthy suburb of Milwaukee. As he and his team dive into the investigation, a mysterious clue launches a manhunt with scant other evidence to point them in the right direction. Over the coming weeks, the related murders unfold, each with a unique twist and the same clue left behind. Viceroy uncovers one other common thread - a seemingly random association with the small north woods town of Curwood, Wisconsin. As the death toll mounts, Viceroy has to connect the dots and stop the carnage before it reaches the final target, Governor Kay Spurgeon. Within a crowd of tens of thousands on a clear October day, one man hides. Viceroy must find him.

"Red October meets Close Encounters in this maritime thriller. Rumors of mysterious blue orbs arising from caverns in a remote atoll become all too real for a young sailor and a group of scientists gathered there. Are these orbs alien intelligence or a secret weapon known only to some superpower? When reports come of a comet due to collide with Earth, the small group is stranded on the atoll, with the fate of humanity in jeopardy. Will the orbs help, or are they the source of human demise? This first installment of a trilogy will keep readers on edge, wanting more " -Ellen Gunderson Traylor, International bestselling novelist and publisher "Author Steven C. Golly has successfully interwoven maritime and military storylines into one page-turner of a science fiction/adventure novel that is weighted towards real world science fiction, reminiscent of Isaac Asimov and Tom Clancy. I enjoyed reading Oversight and kept picturing it as a movie. I can hardly wait for the sequel." -Judy Fleagle, former editor/staff writer Oregon Coast and Northwest Travel magazines, and author of seven books, including Crossings: McCullough's Coastal Bridges and The Oregon Coast Guide to the UNEXPECTED
The Last Minutes: A Study of the Intertestamental Period
Between Malachi and Matthew is a span of at least 400 years. When we arrive at the Gospels, we read of Pharisees, Romans, and synagogues, none of which were present in the Old Testament. The Intertestamental Period is one of the best commentaries on the first-century Jewish climate. The sects, institutions, and divisions of Judaism-not to mention the rejection of Jesus as Messiah-is given clearer understanding by knowing what took place during this period. In this 13-lesson study of the period between the Testaments, Steven C. Hunter gives Bible students a window into the first-century world in which Jesus preached, was rejected, and crucified. The result will be a deeper understanding and richer appreciation for the New Testament world.

Bible Discoveries and Revelations is a compilation of Bible mysteries that the author was compelled to research and interpret himself, due to his mistrust in individual church doctrines and their misguided Bible interpretations. The author asks the question: can two people look at the same evidence and come up with two different conclusions? This appears to be the true problem with Christianity. The reader will discover what the Bible really says about the tribulation, what truly was the thorn that tormented Paul, the true name of God, the location of the kingdom of God, also including too-numerous-to-mention topics not normally discussed in church. Bible Discoveries and Revelations comprises over sixty-two chapters of individual Bible topic studies written by a spirit-filled recovered alcoholic addict with over thirty-three years of sobriety. After reading Bible Discoveries and Revelations and applying the principles outlined within, it is the sincere hope of the author that you find the power within yourself that he found, which allowed him to walk away from cigarettes, drugs, and alcohol. The author was forced into early retirement and told he had three years to live in 2003. Fourteen years later after three strokes, two heart attacks, six heart surgeries, and finally diagnosed with diabetes in 2015which miraculously disappears in thirty dayshe claims to have found a useable power that heals, guides, and protects his life to this very day. Bible Discoveries and Revelations is written from a skeptical viewpoint, not from a brainwashed seminary student or doctor of theology. To the author, it is not true unless you can show Bible and verse. Your burning questions about prophecy, does God test man, and can America be found in the Bible will be shown to you in Bible Discoveries and Revelations.

The social sciences share a mission to shed light on human nature and society. However, there is no widely accepted meta-theory; no foundation from which variables can be linked, causally sequenced, or ultimately explained. This book advances “life history evolution” as the missing meta-theory for the social sciences. Originally a biological theory for the variation between species, research on life history evolution now encompasses psychological and sociological variation within the human species that has long been the stock and trade of social scientific study. The eighteen chapters of this book review six disciplines, eighteen authors, and eighty-two volumes published between 1734 and 2015—re-reading the texts in the light of life history evolution.

This book embeds a novel evolutionary analysis of human group selection within a comprehensive overview of multilevel selection theory, a theory wherein evolution proceeds at the level of individual organisms and collectives, such as human families, tribes, states, and empires. Where previous works on the topic have variously supported multilevel selection with logic, theory, experimental data, or via review of the zoological literature; in this book the authors uniquely establish the validity of human group selection as a historical evolutionary process within a multilevel selection framework.Select portions of the historical record are examined from a multilevel selectionist perspective, such that clashing civilizations, decline and fall, law, custom, war, genocide, ostracism, banishment, and the like are viewed with the end of understanding their implications for internal cohesion, external defense, and population demography. In doing so, its authors advance the potential for further interdisciplinary study in fostering, for instance, the convergence of history and biology. This work will provide fresh insights not only for evolutionists but also for researchers working across the social sciences and humanities.

This book on presidential age is not about Alzheimer's Disease and associated pathologies of the aging brain. It is instead about the normally aging brain. Brains don’t simply develop and maintain their functionality into older adulthood unless otherwise impaired by neurocognitive disease. Were this the case, this book might be about leveraging prodromal biomarkers of neurodegenerative diseases to screen prospective presidential candidates. Instead, the normal decline age brings to all human brains begs a different type of book—and a broader and more blanketed warning about electing increasingly older presidents.

This book supplies the evolutionary and genetic framework that Charles Murray, towards the end of Coming Apart: The State of White America 1960-2010, predicts will one day explain revolutionary change in American society. Murray’s Coming Apart documents 50 years of changed college admissions, government incentives, mating and migration patterns that have wrought national divisions across indexes of marriage, industriousness, honesty, and religiosity. The framework discussed is life history evolution, a sub-discipline within evolutionary biology singly capable of explaining why violent crime, property crime, low marriage rates, father absence, early birth, low educational achievement, low income, poverty, lack of religiosity and reduced achievement striving will reliably co-occur as part of a complex. This complex augments facultatively, developmentally and evolutionarily in response to unpredictable and uncontrollable sources of mortality. The uncertain tenure of life wrought by unpredictable and uncontrollable mortality selects for a present-oriented use of bioenergetics resources recognizable as the social ills of Fishtown, Murray’s archetypal working class community. In turn, the thirty years of life history literature herein reviewed confirms the biological logic of elite intermarriage and sequestration. The source of life history variation, policy implications, and demography are discussed.
