Out of Babylon Up to Jerusalem: Challenging Centuries of Misinterpretation of the Virgin Birth Theology
Out of Babylon Up to Jerusalem, is about coming out of man-made theologies that have and continue to this day to hold people in "bondage and confusion... the dark side if you will, masquerading as light." A great deal of pagan mythology is rooted in ancient Babylon, it having influenced the world throughout the ages with its perversions. This book cross-examines traditional Christians belief of the virgin birth narrative, by holding traditional belief systems up to Scripture to see if they will stand or fall, just as those of nobler character did in the book of Acts. Acts 17:11 Now these (people) were of nobler character than those in Thessalonica, they eagerly received the word and everyday examined the Scriptures (Oldest Testament) to see if the things (Paul was saying) were true. These people of Berea studied the Oldest Testament, for they, having wisdom and understanding, knew that the Oldest Testament is in fact God's message to the world, the standard in which to measure all things. Furthermore, Proverbs 18:17 states: The first to state his case seems right, till the other one comes and cross-examines. Accordingly, this is exactly what those of noble character did; they cross-examined Paul by checking the Oldest Testament Scriptures to see if what Paul had been teaching them were in fact true. The traditional Christian belief of the virgin birth narrative has blindly been accepted for over seventeen hundred years as well as never having been challenged for authenticity... until now; the findings in this book are rather astounding. Ultimate freedom is when one discovers pure unadulterated truth, truth being the core foundation, which brings back the hearts of the people to the One True God. So come let us reason together as we search Gods word for answers, allowing Scripture to guide us to truth, freeing ourselves from man-made indoctrinations: so that we may worship unimpeded, in spirit and in truth, the One True God, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of Israel.

When her daughter Blair was born, Vicki Glembocki experienced the first blast of maternal bliss that she assumed would carry her through the next nine months of sleepless nights and all the challenges that come with a new baby. So why was the transition into motherhood so hard? Because no one told her the real deal about what lay ahead. Finally, one mother gives the unvarnished truth about those first months, from the worry over whether you're bonding, to the suspicion that you're the only woman on earth who lacks the maternal gene." Funny and brutally honest, Glembocki lets new moms know they're not alone and reassures them that when someone coos, Aren't you just loving every minute ?" it's perfectly normal to think: No, actually, I'm not!" And you and your child will still turn out just fine.

The monograph explores the linguistic impact of the colonial and postcolonial situations in South Africa on language policy, on literary production and especially on the stylistics of fiction by indigenous South Africans writing in English. A secondary concern is to investigate the present place of English in the multilingual spectrum of South African languages and to see how this worldly English relates to Global English, in the South African context. The introduction presents a socio-linguistic overview of South Africa from pre-historic times until the present, including language planning policies during and after the colonial era and a cursory review of how the difficulties encountered in implementing the Language Plan, provided for by the new South African constitution, impinge on the development of black South African English. Six chapters track the course of English in South Africa since the arrival of the British in 1795, considered from the point of view of the indigenous African population. The study focuses on ways in which indigenous authors "indigenize" their writing, innovating and subverting stylistic conventions, including those of African orature, in order to bend language and genre towards their own culture and objectives. Each chapter corresponds to a briefly outlined historical period that is largely reflected in linguistic and literary developments. A small number of significant works for each period are discussed, one of which is selected for a case-study at the end of each chapter, where it is subjected to detailed stylistic analysis and appraised for the degree of indigenization or other linguistic or socio-historic influences on style. The methodology adopted is a linguistic approach to stylistics, focusing on indigenization of English, inspired by the work of Chantal Zabus in her book, The African Palimpsest: Indigenization of Language in the West African Europhone Novel (2007, (1991)). The conclusion reappraises the original hypothesis - that the specific characteristi

First Published in 1995. As feminists reflect on the impact of the 'second wave' of feminism, and assess the gains of the last thirty years, invariably they have questioned whether claims that women have achieved equality are justified. In the late 1980s, there was a proliferation of popular imagery of 'new' men and 'post-feminist' women, with the concept of 'post-feminism' reinforcing and emphasizing the differences between independent, upwardly-mobile, career orientated women, and those women who 'choose' the more 'natural' role of wife and mother. The Illusions of'Post-Feminism':New Women, Old Myths maintains that 'post-feminism' is a myth. Through in-depth interviews with women about four major areas of their lives: education, work, the media and the family, the authors challenge and expose the myths implicit in the concept of 'post-feminism'. The research illustrates that women's discontent continues, despite the assumption that gender equality would result from equal opportunities legislation. The chapters highlight the ineffective nature of liberal reformism and demonstrate how power relations still lie at the root of the oppression of women. With its provoking and challenging analysis, this revealing book breaks the silence of women's real experiences by showing the actuality of women's lives today.
