Ebenso ist mit dem Nibelungenlied das wohl popul rste deutsche Heldenepos in mehrfacher berlieferung verf gbar. Insoweit muss seine wissenschaftliche Betrachtung als geschlossenes und gebildehaftes Werk mit Vorsicht genossen werden. Diese Asymmetrie wirft viele Fragen auf, von denen die meisten bis heute nicht eindeutig gekl rt werden konnten: Gibt es mehrere Autoren, die unterschiedliche Texte verfasst haben, oder lassen sich alle Handschriften auf denselben Autor zur ckf hren? Sind die buchepischen Verschriftlichungen Auslaufformen m ndlicher Vorg ngerfassungen? Unterscheiden sich die Fassungen in ihren narrativen Strukturen und erzwingen sie damit unterschiedliche hermeneutische Herangehensweisen?Letztere soll die Leitfrage dieser Arbeit sein, wobei eine Beschr nkung auf die Nibelungenliedhandschriften B und C erforderlich ist, um den Rahmen dieser Analyse nicht zu sprengen. In einem vergleichenden Analyseverfahren sollen die divergierenden narrativen Schemata der Fassungen *B und *C an ausgew hlten Aventiure- und Strophenbeispielen herausgearbeitet und ferner ihre unterschiedlichen Konzeptionierungen offengelegt werden.Zun chst bedarf es jedoch der Kl rung, welche Voraussetzungen notwendig sind, um mittelalterliche Texte eingehend studieren zu k nnen, damit auf dieser Grundlage erz hltechnische Textdiskrepanzen zum Vorschein gelangen. Dazu sollen im Folgenden signifikante Unterschiede des modernen und mittelalterlichen Textualit tsverst ndnis gegen bergestellt werden.
