Este volumen, dedicado al tema de la Simbolog a en Astrolog a dentro del marco del material de apoyo para los estudiantes de la UCLA, fue desarrollado gracias a la colaboraci n de los profesores de la UCLA, con el objetivo de entregar la informaci n necesaria para que el alumno complemente sus lecturas y clases con la mejor recopilaci n posible del conocimiento referido a la simbolog a de los planetas, como base imprescindible para la interpretaci n de una carta astral. Una de las asignaturas m s importantes para el estudio de la Astrolog a es la simbolog a, porque para entender el fen meno astrol gico es necesario comprender primero el lenguaje en el que se expresar , pues para el estudio de cualquier ciencia, es necesario conocer previamente el lenguaje que utiliza, ya que la manera de expresarse de las diferentes modalidades culturales no siempre se realiza a trav s de las palabras o de conceptos concretos.
Este trabajo tiene la intenci n de iluminar un poco la oscura noche de la Edad Media europea. Medio historia, medio fantas a, pero todo lo que hay aqu escrito trata de ayudar a ver con claridad c mo era la astrolog a en esos tiempos, qu t cnicas usaban, de qu medios se val an y en qu forma realizaban su trabajo los astr logos medievales.
El lenguaje de la Astrolog a es un compuesto de s mbolos y arquetipos o patrones de conducta humanos. Este lenguaje es muy parecido al proceso de sintetizaci n del pensamiento, una vez aprendido es af n a cualquier otro idioma, de hecho el lenguaje astrol gico transciende las fronteras ling sticas naturales y es de ndole universal. No importa la nacionalidad, la raza, el sexo o el idioma original de cada persona. Comprender el lenguaje astrol gico es m s parecido a entender la m sica, las artes o el alma humana, que al recuento num rico de las matem ticas o la inacabable clasificaci n de las especies bot nicas. El lenguaje simb lico y la comprensi n de los arquetipos, se aprende activando el lado derecho del cerebro, cerca del rea del sentido musical, del sentido del humor y del sentido religioso, es decir, el lado de la mente abstracta.
Los movimientos de los planetas en el cielo son el primer mecanismo del reloj astrol gico que se conoce y el m s f cil de comprender. Los planetas en su movimiento celeste natural, van dejando notar su influencia conforme van llegando al lugar del Sol de nacimiento, al lugar de la Luna, o al lugar de otros planetas, son como nubes cargadas de agua que cuando llegan a ciertos lugares apropiados, descargan su agua en forma de lluvia. Una de las formas m s sencillas de poner ese reloj astrol gico en marcha, es comparar el movimiento celeste real con la carta del cielo de tu nacimiento. Conviene pensar que la carta del cielo natal es la base fija de todos los relojes astrol gicos personales que m s adelante iremos construyendo.
