"Reading the essays in TIE DYE TUESDAY is like reading Bateman's personal diary. She fuses her fears of adulthood with her own struggles as both a camp counselor and a college student. She captures the camper in all of us." - Rob Spadafore THE SILVER BIN At eighteen years old, Amanda Bateman applied to be a counselor at a Girl Scout camp in Western Pennsylvania. For the next four years, instead of looking for internships or working a part time job, she canoes, eats chicken fingers, and fights raccoons. Tie Dye Tuesday is a reflection of what those years as a counselor as well as what camping with her family has made her believe about family, friendship, and herself. It is a memoir of the summers between her four years in college and trying to grow up while being paid to act like a kid.
Economica: A Global History of Women, Wealth, and Power
The story of how women made the world rich How many female entrepreneurs, economic revolutionaries, merchants, and industrialists can you name? You would be forgiven for thinking that, until very recently, there were none at all. But what about Phryne, the richest woman in ancient Athens, who offered to pay to rebuild the walls of Thebes after the city was razed by Alexander the Great? Or what about Priscilla Wakefield, the writer who set up the first English bank for women and children? And, just as important, what about the everyday women who, paid only a pittance, labored for the profit of others? From the most successful women of their day to those who struggled to make ends meet, Economica takes you on a journey that begins in the Stone Age and ends in the twenty-first century, spanning the world's historic centers of prosperity: Egypt, Mesopotamia, Peru, the Indus Valley, the Roman Empire, the Islamic Empire, China, Europe, and the United States. By shining a light on the women whose contributions to the economy have been hidden for far too long, Economica is more than a history of women--it is a more accurate economic history of us all.

If you are not a Christian or fully committed Christian, this book is for you. The book covers key secular and spiritual relationships in our lives and how they should be balanced. Like everyone else, over my life, I was focused primarily on my businesses. My spirituality and family were secondary. It was not until Trudy and I participated in a YWAM DTS in 2008, that I was finally able to understand the proper priorities. That DTS opened my eyes to the truth. This life is transitory. We all die. Eternal life is forever. Some of us will go to Heaven, and some to Hell. I realized that my focus had to shift from the secular to the spiritual. DTS inspired me to start writing my first book during the DTS training. I had to share my epiphany with others. This book is the first in a series on religious topics. The focus of this first book is on the fundamentals of Christianity. I believe that, we understand the Father's message in the Old Testament, Jesus Christ's message about the new Christian faith, in the New Testament, and the Holy Spirit's role in helping us achieve necessary spirituality, I am convinced that we have an excellent chance of realizing salvation and eternal life in Heaven with the Blessed Trinity, the angels and saints and family, friends and new acquaintances. I believe this to be a very important goal. I am pleased to share my thoughts with you. If you follow the basic steps to spiritually outlined in this book that we learned in YWAM, you too will have an excellent opportunity to achieve eternal life. I hope that you enjoy reading this book as much as I did writing it for you. Blessings See you in Heaven

Christianity, Plaintiff vs. Other Spiritual Worldviews, Defendants. This book is about the continuing struggle of the 2,000 year old Christian faith in a world of many other spiritual worldviews and beliefs, beginning with incarnation, life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and the formation of His Church. The ultimate goal is to find the truth. The true religion. This legal journey and the ultimate finding of the true religion will have major consequences for you in this life and the life hereafter. Getting this right is critical. The case for Christ, Christianity and life after death, is set in a U.S. courtroom. Standard court rules of procedure and evidence are applied. Spiritual propositions are presented through hypothetical lay and expert witnesses and real and documentary evidence. Accepted legal standards put this evidence to the test. Natural, divine and positive law apply. Competing evidence is presented on the most prominent non-Christian beliefs around the world. The goal is to sort out the truth of each spiritual proposition under the law by a preponderance of the evidence as in any other civil case. You will be the judge. You will be asked to decide the true faith through careful deliberation, reason and logic. This case begins with spiritual and scientific proof of God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son of God and God the Holy Spirit. The evidence will prove the truth of the Christian Church founded by Jesus Christ, the existence of Satan and the ongoing battle of principalities for our eternal souls, and finally the case for salvation of souls brought about by the sacrifice of Christ on the cross for each of us, reuniting us with God the Father. Post judgment, I shall challenge you personally to reflect on accepting the Christian life and to find your internal peace, joy and happiness through committing yourself to the love of God and your neighbor.

Is God for real? Is there a God? If so, what is God like? What is God's nature and character? Is God a spiritual being? Is God religious? Is there a Heaven and Hell?Does God care about you and the human race? Today, over 40% of Gen Y and Z youth claim they have no particular faith and classify themselves on surveys as religious "nones." Millennials are questioning God, creationism, spirituality, eternal life and spiritual and temporal relationships more than ever. Their inquiry into God, the purpose of this life and the reasons we exist are sincere. They are searching in earnest for honest answers. Parents, spiritual leaders, pastors, teachers and authors are now tasked to answer these questions in an honest and straight forward manner. This book addresses the lead six questions raised by our younger generations: 1) I question much of religious teaching and I just don't believe in God, 2) There is no scientific, or other evidence of God, 3) Science, common sense and reason give me all the answers and are incompatible with religion, 4) I can learn all I need to know about God and creation on my own without religion, and 5) I don't like formalized and hierarchical religion and religious leaders, and 6) Religion is not relevant to my life. In the end, I am hopeful that our youth will be open to the Christian faith as their spiritual home. God is waiting for you "Dave Bateman, a special friend of nearly two decades, and fellow YWAM'er, has a wealth of experience as a retired US Air Force officer, an international lawyer out of Washington DC, and a legal practitioner in California and Washington State. In 2005 he "retired" into the life of a Kona coffee farmer and real estate agent specializing in selling and developing coffee farms. To top it off, he entered into the life of a missionary with YWAM. He brings several worlds of experience into his book, God Are You For Real? This book will enrich your life. Read, apply and be blest " Loren Cunningham, Founder, Youth with a Mission

Eating too much, eating not enough, having sex, not having sex, aging parents, grief, drugs, childhood trauma, and the last call of ovaries— a woman’ s body at mid-life can get messy. Debbie Bateman’ s stories take a clear-eyed look at the largely unexplored private world of a pivotal stage in virtually every woman’ s life. These stories are linked not only by the characters, but also by the visceral themes of food, sex, exercise, beauty, and aging. The secret clenching of a fist, the unwinding of a silk scarf, the proud refusal to have breast reconstruction, the women in these stories want full authority over their bodies and their lives.

Writer/director/producer Justine Bateman examines the aggressive ways that society reacts to the aging of women's faces."I can't think of anyone better than Justine Bateman to start the conversation about how we've devolved into a society that doesn't allow women to age. Brave, brilliant, and unflinchingly honest, Justine is that writer you trust because she goes after every subject with a warrior's focus, and throws herself to the lions while she's at it. It doesn't hurt that she's a gorgeous woman who hasn't tried to erase an ounce of history from her face. I love the way she thinks, and am amazed at the many sublayers she manages to excavate while everyone else is scratching the surface."--Mary-Louise Parker, actress, author of Dear Mr. You"These honest, no-flinch vignettes about womanhood, beauty, and meaning will make you mad, break your heart, will have you longing for a better world, have you rooting for her, yourself, for all women. And you will stand up and cheer when Bateman slides into home plate with an ending of grace and revelation. Riveting read Profound glimpses into the soul of our society."--Deb Olin Unferth, author of Barn 8Face: One Square Foot of Skin is a book of fictional vignettes that examines the fear and vestigial evolutionary habits that have caused women and men to cultivate the imagined reality that older women's faces are unattractive, undesirable, and something to be "fixed."Based on "older face" experiences of the author, Justine Bateman, and those of dozens of women and men she interviewed, the book presents the reader with the many root causes for society's often negative attitudes toward women's older faces. In doing so, Bateman rejects those ingrained assumptions about the necessity of fixing older women's faces, suggesting that we move on from judging a woman's worth based on the condition of her face. With impassioned prose and a laser-sharp eye, Bateman argues that a woman's confidence should grow as she ages, not be destroyed by society's misled attitude about that one square foot of skin.
