Brian O'Malley thought he had finally shaken off the pains of his youth - a youth stolen by his alcoholic father. He had found the island of his own family dreams with Parminder, a Punjabi Sikh woman who also faced her own childhood challenges in Northern India. Together in Boston, they face the harsh reality of raising a mixed family in a changing America complete with racism, bigotry, and terrorism. To make matters worse, Brian faces the ultimate challenge of not allowing alcoholism and depression to condemn him and his children to the same life he endured. This is a story of the realities of life's challenges and finding happiness despite the odds and the world around you. Brian's Stolen Dream is the first of three books that tell the multi-generational story of the O'Malley family. The books speak of challenges and hardships and the triumph of the human heart. Racial integration is a core theme throughout as is spiritualism and Indian mysticism. Book two is called Sahara's Miracle and book three is Parminder's Legacy.

One of contemporary music’s most significant and controversial figures, Brian Ferneyhough's complex and challenging music draws inspiration from painting, literature and philosophy, as well as music from the recent and distant past. His dense, multi-layered compositions intrigue musicians while pushing performer and instrument to the limits of their abilities. A wide-ranging survey of his life and work to date, Brian Ferneyhough examines the critical issues fundamental to understanding the composer as both musician and thinker. Debuting in celebration of Ferneyhough’s 70th birthday in 2013, this book balances critical analysis of the music and close scrutiny of its aesthetic and philosophical contexts, making possible a more rounded view of the composer than has been available hitherto.
Brian Cox - The Unauthorised Biography of the Man Who Brought Science to the Nation
Professor Brian Cox is among the best-known physicists in the world. As presenter of hit television series Human Universe, Wonders of the Solar System and Wonders of the Universe, his affable charm and infectious enthusiasm have brought science to a whole new audience. Born in Lancashire in 1968, Cox was a bright but not brilliant pupil at school. He flourished at university, however, gaining a first-class honours degree and an MPhil in Physics from Manchester University before being awarded his PhD in particle physics in 1998. Alongside his studies, he played keyboards in the band D:Ream, who topped the charts in 1994 with 'Things Can Only Get Better', which was famously used by the Labour Party for its 1997 election campaign. Although an award-winning celebrity TV presenter, Brian Cox remains devoted to scientific research. He is a Royal Society University Research Fellow, an advanced fellow at the University of Manchester, and also works on the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN in Switzerland. In 2010 he was awarded the OBE for his services to science. Featuring exclusive interviews and in-depth research, this book delves into the fascinating universe of the man who single-handedly made physics cool.

Brian Dright: Weatherman of Mystery
Little does the world know that Brian Dright, the popular weatherman at Channel 57, is also a secret agent working for the Super Legendary Earth Environment Team. (S.L.E.E.T.) Worrying intell has been intercepted and his commander, the news anchor Anne Finely, sends Brian to investigate snow in the Sahara desert. Turns out it’s the work of Sahara Snow, evil agent of S.M.O.G. Even with the latest gear from the Channel 57 research lab, Brian is soon captured in the desert. He is interrogated by Sahara but makes a bargain with her which results in the whole operation relocating to the North Pole. Once there, Brian slips away from his dim guards and attempts to destroy Sahara’s weather machine. She, however, is somewhat more alert and recaptures Brian before he can throw the self-destruct switch. Secured in an ice cell, Brian learns he is to be made into a trophy for the Head of S.M.O.G. He frees himself by melting the ice with his own red-hot rear after eating bowl after bowl of chilli. Brian tears through the base and faces Sahara. She is too busy melting the polar icecap to bother with Brian so she releases her monstrous mutant pet, Zawinul. Brian and Zawinul have a lovely deadly game of chase in the snow which leaves one of them a charred bundle of blackened fur and the other a very relieved weatherman. With no-one left to assist her, Sahara knows she must finish off the meddling meteorologist herself. In a final showdown amongst the ruins of the disintegrating secret base, Brian and Sahara both know that only one of them will walk (well, swim, probably) free. Who will it be? Coming soon: Brian Dright vs. Evvi Schauer Oh. That sort of gives the end of this one away, doesn’t it. Sorry. Note: Between each chapter you’ll find more about the ongoing conflict between S.L.E.E.T. and S.M.O.G. See if YOU can break the Wind Code!

Brian Friel's Dramatic Artistry makes an important contribution to our understanding of the work of Ireland's greatest living playwright. The fifteen essays collected here provide us with new perspectives on Friel's most familiar works, such as Translations, Faith Healer, and Dancing at Lughnasa. They remind us of the importance of neglected works like The Gentle Island and Volunteers. And, perhaps most importantly, they give much needed attention to his most recent dramas, such as Give Me Your Answer, Do! and Performances. The editors have gathered together a refreshingly broad range of voices for this collection: we encounter new work from some of the leading English-speaking authorities on Friel's work, while also enjoying fascinating essays from scholars working in Germany, Italy, Portugal, and Hungary. Accessible, authoritative, and informative, this book will deepen our knowledge - and, crucially, our enjoyment - of Friel's oeuvre.

Brian Eno is arguably one of the most influential musicians working in rock music. Starting out as synthesizer peacock of the early glam rock era Roxy Music, Eno not only changed his look but his musical style throughout the seventies and moved from foot-stomping proto-punk anthems to the quiet introspection and inventor of ambient music. Along the way, he became a much in demand producer working with Ultravox! and Talking Heads and also collaborated with David Bowie on three of the most important albums of his career. He also managed to blur the boundaries between rock music and modern avant-garde classical music with the founding of his 'Obscure Records' label. Eno began this decade strutting his stuff onstage to Bryan Ferry's songs and finished it with the serene melodies of Music For Airports and, along the way, managed to squeeze in a couple of albums with King Crimson's Robert Fripp as well as being part of the krautrock scene. This is Eno’s journey through the highs and lows of the seventies.
