With a combination of informative text and clear images, Photographic Dissector for Physical Therapy Students provides an unparalleled examination of anatomical structures and the tools used for dissection.Using visible external landmarks, students will learn how to locate internal structures and develop a better understanding of anatomy. The book offers thorough coverage of the types of tools for dissecting along with detailed photographic instructions for every step of dissection. Each tool is clearly defined with its purpose.Features• Modeled to follow the curriculum of Doctor of Physical Therapy programs, which often includes simultaneous courses in kinesiology and physiology• Clinical correlates throughout the book provide important information about function and dysfunction in order to inspire diagnostic thought• Examples are drawn from real cases in clinical practice • Each chapter contains a checklist of important structures• Exam-style multiple choice questions and answers, along with explanations and strategies for working through the questions
Decision Directed and Constant Modulus Algorithms Derived and Evaluated for Multicarrier Systems
Nicholas L. Linnenkamp

The purpose of this research is to derive and examine blind adaptive algorithms for equalizing multicarrier (MC) communication systems and analyze how they performunder varying environmental conditions and parametric variations, focusing on equalizersset in cascade with the channel. Two well-accepted and widely-known cost functions, Decision Directed (DD) and Constant Modulus (CM), are applied to the MC signalstructure, and gradient descent algorithms based on both DD and CM functions arederived, analyzed and compared. Comparison of the new algorithms, Multi CarrierDecision Directed (MCDD) and Multi Carrier Constant Modulus (MCCM), focuses ondetailing how each algorithm performs when the factors of noise power and symbolsynchronization are varied. Additionally, a Frequency Domain Equalizer (FEQ) isdeveloped and employed to de-rotate and resize the output symbol constellation. BothMCDD and MCCM are compared against other blind and trained adaptive MCequalization algorithms in the areas of bit error rate (BER) vs. signal to noise ratio (SNR)and BER vs. synchronization delay. Results are presented showing that MCDD andMCCM perform worse than a MC Trained (MCT) approach but better than bothMulticarrier Equalization by Restoration of Redundancy (MERRY) and Carrier NullingAlgorithm (CNA). At seventeen, author Dawn M. Pate had big dreams. She was going to fly the open skies and become a flight attendant; then she learned she was pregnant. After a second unplanned pregnancy, Pate realized she needed a change. In Strength Directed, she shares her journey of her personal and ministry life, revealing the struggles and circumstances she encountered and the outcome that could only have been orchestrated and allowed by God. Pate offers a background of her life and tells how she became a Pregnancy Care Center director, overseeing the ministry to more than 50,000 girls in crisis and leading hundreds of volunteers in ministry service throughout a twenty-one-year tenure. CAN YOU SEE THE PIECES OF YOUR OWN LIFE'S PUZZLE WORKING ALL TOGETHER REVEALING YOUR UNIQUE STORY? STRENGTH DIRECTED will help guide and uplift you on your spiritual walk, a journey that will help position your life to walk in the fullness of God's directed strength.

The 18th century was a wealth of knowledge, exploration and rapidly growing technology and expanding record-keeping made possible by advances in the printing press. In its determination to preserve the century of revolution, Gale initiated a revolution of its own: digitization of epic proportions to preserve these invaluable works in the largest archive of its kind. Now for the first time these high-quality digital copies of original 18th century manuscripts are available in print, making them highly accessible to libraries, undergraduate students, and independent scholars.Delve into what it was like to live during the eighteenth century by reading the first-hand accounts of everyday people, including city dwellers and farmers, businessmen and bankers, artisans and merchants, artists and their patrons, politicians and their constituents. Original texts make the American, French, and Industrial revolutions vividly contemporary.++++The below data was compiled from various identification fields in the bibliographic record of this title. Task-Directed Sensor Fusion and Planning

If you have ever hiked up a steep hill to reach a viewpoint, you will know that sensing can involve the expenditure of effort. More generally, the choice of which movement an intelligent system chooses to make is usually based on information gleaned from sensors. But the information required to make the motion decision may not be immediately to hand, so the system . first has to plan a motion whose purpose is to acquire the needed sensor information. Again, this conforms to our everyday experience: I am in the woods and don't know which direction to go, so I climb up to the ridge to get my bearings; I am lost in a new town, so I plan to drive to the next junction where there is sure to be a roadsign, failing that I will ask someone who seems to be from the locality. Why, if experiences such as these are so familiar, has the problem only recently been recognised and studied in Robotics? One reason is that until quite recently Robotics research was dominated by work on robot arms with limited reach and fixed in a workcell.
Organ Directed Toxicities of Anticancer Drugs
Springer-Verlag New York Inc.

nidottu
The addition of chemotherapy as an effective means to treat cancer has had a major impact on selected human malignancies. Due to a general inability to dif ferentiate between normal and neoplastic cells, little selectivity exists in currently used oncolytic drugs. Consequently, significant toxicity to the patient is expected when systemic cancer chemotherapy is chosen as an appropriate therapeutic in tervention. Much of this toxicity, such as damage to the bone marrow, gastroin testinal tract, or hair follicles, is predictable based upon the fact that anticancer drugs kill actively dividing cells. These types of toxicities, while serious, are usually manageable and reversible and are, therefore, not often considered to be dose limiting. Unfortunately, several of the most important anticancer drugs also damage tissues in which the growth fraction is relatively small. Such toxicities can not be predicted based on the chemical structure of the drugs, are often not detected in preclinical studies, and are encountered frequently for the first time in clinical studies. Further, unlike most of the proliferative-dependent toxicities, the unpre dicted toxicities are usually irreversible or only partially reversible upon cessation of drug administration. Because of this, the unpredicted toxicities are referred to as dose limiting. They represent a significant barrier to the ultimate efficacy of several of our most important anticancer drugs.
Oncogene-Directed Therapies
Humana Press Inc.
2012

Prominent investigators and clinicians summarize in a balanced blend of fundamental science, basic research, experimental therapeutics, and early clinical experiences, what is known about oncogenes and oncogenesis, and describe how that knowledge can be used to treat the cancer. The contributors explain how, why, and under what conditions certain proteins acquire the ability to transform eukaryotic cells, and detail the crucial biological consequences of this oncogenic transformation, particularly for cellular mitogenesis, survival, differentiation, migration, proteolysis, or angiogenic competence. Their articles thoroughly explicate the premises, principles, techniques, and approaches to oncogene targeting in various types of human cancer by using signal transduction inhibitors, immunological targeting methods, and antisense gene therapy.
Liver-Directed Therapy for Primary and Metastatic Liver Tumors
Springer-Verlag New York Inc.
2013
nidottu
Liver-Directed Therapy for Primary and Metastatic Liver Tumors is a comprehensive examination of tumors of the liver. It provides a unique multi-modality approach to management of all types of primary and secondary liver tumors. The biology of liver cancers, state of the art radiologic imaging and novel, non-surgical interventional strategies are given. There is an in depth analysis of surgical options including transplantation, resection, interstitial ablation techniques and liver-directed chemotherapy for hepatocellular carcinoma, bile duct cancers, and colorectal and neuroendocrine liver metastases. Because of the unique and comprehensive examination of liver tumors, this work is an excellent resource for surgical, transplant and medical oncologists, surgeons, gastroenterologists, and radiologists.
