"God's Amazing Grace: Reconciling Four Centuries of African American Marriages and Families is an insightful study that will be welcomed by thoughtful practitioners and all who ponder the African American family's complexity. Readers familiar with the deep, rich reservoir of African American family literature will recognize many of the black scholars referenced in this work. Readers unfamiliar with these sources will be grateful to discover them and the effective use of disparate literature. "This work will become a different kind of guide for studying American history through the lens of the African American family. Underneath all the research is the search for answers to the compelling questions: Is there a correlation between slave owners' denial to slaves, God's design for the family, and the familial chaos that has plagued African American families for more than a hundred fifty years? And if there is connection, what is it? "The author has brought something new to a familiar topic of discussion--the Bible. The unique moral compass that steered this study is solidly anchored in the bedrock of holy scripture. In this work, the history and sociology of African American marriages are examined in light of the questions asked by Holy Scripture. In so doing, Dr. Turner skillfully attempts to help readers make sense of the story of black families in America. May this book mark the beginning to a new reality for African American families" (Dr. Willie Peterson, senior executive advisor, adjunct professor of Pastoral Ministries, Dallas Theological Seminary).

"torchsong for grace" is a book of poetry by Canadian author Theodore Michael Christou - Kingston, Ontario professor at Queens University. torchsong for grace by Theodore Christou feels like a prayer shaped into poetry, a slow unfolding of light and shadow across the hours of the day. Its clarity and simplicity remind me of Rumi, who also wove spiritual longing with the ordinary. Both poets invite us inward, toward mercy, stillness, and luminous presence.
The Light of Grace: John Owen on the Authority of Scripture and Christian Faith
Over the past several centuries, John Owen’s writings on scripture have captured the attention of numerous interpreters across a relatively diverse range of disciplines. His own distinctive contribution to this doctrine was forged with a genuine fear for the on-going pre-eminence of scriptural authority in the English church firmly in view. In the face of various rival perspectives, Owen insists every Christian believer ought to be clear on the reason they believe scripture to be the word of God. Focussing on the treatise Reason of Faith (1677) in conversation with his wider theological corpus, Andrew M. Leslie studies Owen’s approach to scriptural authority and Christian faith. He argues that Owen creatively drew upon an ecumenical dogmatic and metaphysical heritage to restate and refine the traditional Reformed position on scripture’s divine authority, sensitive to developments in his own late seventeenth-century context. In particular, Leslie explores how Owen shares a growing concern to ground Christian faith in objective evidence, all-the-while ensuring that its ultimate foundation lies in the irresistible authority and truthfulness of God, mediated “in and by” the inspired text of scripture. Leslie also draws out the broader significance Owen ascribes to scripture in shaping a believer’s relationship with the Triune God, especially its vital role in their gradual transformation into the likeness or image of Christ.

From Law to Boundless Grace by Dr. Rugubira M. Theophile explores the beauty and depth of God's grace while warning against the extremes of the "hyper-grace" movement. Rooted in both personal experience and pastoral care, the book addresses how misinterpreting grace can lead to spiritual laziness, moral compromise, and neglect of repentance and discipleship. Rugubira affirms that grace is central to the Christian life, liberating and healing, but insists it must remain connected to truth, holiness, and accountability. This is not a message of judgment, but a loving call for balance. The book invites believers to embrace the fullness of grace, not as a license to sin, but as a power that transforms and calls us to walk closely with Christ.

2000 Years of Amazing Grace is an accessible and easy-reading history of Christianity that focuses on the essentials of the Christian message, centrally, salvation by grace. It presents a luminous and enthusiastic digest of vital Christian beliefs and an account of how Christianity evolved from Jesus to the present. It also features biographical sketches of key figures, extensive citation from founding documents, and discusses Christianity's relationship to other world religions today. What distinguishes this book from other overviews of Christianity is Paul Zahl's lively and accessible style of writing and his vigorous advocacy of orthodox Christian faith. His own personal commitment to Christianity is a guiding force in the book. He also readily acknowledges the ways in which Christians and Christian institutions have failed to live up to the founder's teachings and have distorted his message. This book is a must-read for anyone seeking to understand Christianity's long history, and how that history has led to a thriving faith today.

Paul and the Gift transformed the landscape of Pauline studies upon its publication in 2015. In it, John Barclay led readers through a recontextualized analysis of grace and interrogated Paul's original meaning in declaring it a "free gift" from God, revealing grace as a multifaceted concept that is socially radical and unconditioned--even if not unconditional. Paul and the Power of Grace offers all of the most significant contributions from Paul and the Gift in a package several hundred pages shorter and more accessible. Additionally, Barclay adds further analysis of the theme of gift and grace in Paul's other letters--besides just Romans and Galatians--and explores contemporary implications for this new view of grace.
