Their first effort at a "just-because" spanking ends with Lydia acting resentful, conflicted, and angry, and Charlie accusing her for the first time ever of being a "brat" in need of correction. Things eventually reach a state of equilibrium, until Charlie visits around the holidays, only to discover Lydia minimized the seriousness of a citation she got, and actually got cited not simply for speeding, but for careless driving by an officer who took pity on her when she was actually intoxicated. Lydia refuses to acknowledge that the verbal warning Charlie gave her a few years back matters at all, since it was mistakenly left out of their written spanking contract. The two must then figure out the complexities of Lydia being deserving of a scheduled "just-because" spanking the same day as Charlie's convinced she also deserves a punishment spanking. Given her obstinance, Charlie must also finally confront whether there are circumstances where he feels compelled to administer a forced punishment spanking despite a spanking contract which states that he'll never do so, and a personal promise not to do so.
