One of the main benefits of this book is that it presents a comprehensive and innovative eHealth framework that leverages deep learning and IoT wearable devices for the evaluation of Parkinson's disease patients. This framework offers a new way to assess and monitor patients' motor deficits in a personalized and automated way, improving the efficiency and accuracy of diagnosis and treatment.Compared to other books on eHealth and Parkinson's disease, this book offers a unique perspective and solution to the challenges facing patients and healthcare providers. It combines state-of-the-art technology, such as wearable devices and deep learning algorithms, with clinical expertise to develop a personalized and efficient evaluation framework for Parkinson's disease patients. This book provides a roadmap for the integration of cutting-edge technology into clinical practice, paving the way for more effective and patient-centered healthcare. To understand this book, readers should have a basic knowledge of eHealth, IoT, deep learning, and Parkinson's disease. However, the book provides clear explanations and examples to make the content accessible to a wider audience, including researchers, practitioners, and students interested in the intersection of technology and healthcare.

This book is proposed as a contribution to postcolonial critiques of the colonial and postcolonial exotic. It investigates the exotic as a representation of colonial cultural difference in colonial discourse, culture and history, and its oppositional rewritings in postcolonial thought and literature. Its analyses of the exotic include classical Arabo-Islamic ethnographic texts, Marco Polo’s and Mandeville’s travel accounts, Shakespeare’s The Tempest, Montesquieu’s Lettres Persanes, and a variety of colonial and postcolonial texts. Its Deconstructive approach to the exotic breaks new grounds of analysis beyond the Saidian problematic of «Orientalism», Homi Bhabha’s intervention on the exotic, Hegel’s Master/Slave dialectic, Michel Foucault’s archaeology of Western cultural history, and Sartre’s theorization of the «gaze» and its underlying Phenomenological subject. The scope of critical discussions of the exotic in this book includes – apart from Western cultural history – postmodern and postcolonial critiques of the colonial Other and exotic, and anthropological and philosophical discussions of the exotic. While tracing the divided inscription of the exotic as a colonial subject with reference to Shakespeare’s The Tempest, the author throws into question l’Exote and the exotic Other as problematic subject positions for reading and rewriting the exotic in cultural history, and the double binds of counter-Exoticist discourses.
The Affective Agency of Public Space explores the pivotal role that public spaces play in fostering social inclusion and community cohesion within various settings, including Europe and the United States. This scholarly work underscores the critical importance of developing inclusive public zones that enhance urban life and promote integration and interaction among diverse community groups. It also confronts and debunks common myths about ‘different people,’ actively addressing misconceptions while promoting the recognition of diverse identities and voices. Through a comparative lens, the book presents insightful case studies that illustrate its core themes. Serving as a timely and important academic resource, this text is indispensable for urban planners, educators, architects, designers, and sociologists committed to progressive urban planning methodologies.
This book distinguishes Islam as a spiritual message from the sociopolitical context of its revelation. While the sacred text of the Quran reveals a clear empowerment of women and equality of believers, such spirit is barely reflected in the interpretations. Trapped between Western rhetoric that portrays them as submissive figures in desperate need of liberation, and centuries-old, parochial interpretations that have almost become part of the “sacred,” Muslim women are pressured and profoundly misunderstood. Asma Lamrabet laments this state of affairs and the inclination of both Muslims and non-Muslims to readily embrace flawed human interpretations that devalue women rather than remaining faithful to the meaning of the Sacred Text. Full of insight, this study carefully reads the Qur’an to arrive at its deeper spiritual teachings.
