Oral delivery of Insulin, Second Edition is a complete reference on non-invasive insulin delivery systems, focusing on the prospect of oral delivery of peptides. The chapters in the revised edition present a comprehensive evaluation of the insulin therapy approaches, with an emphasis on insulin delivery strategies and current advances in engineered insulin delivery systems such as nano/microcarriers and hydrogels. Chapters provides an overview of diabetes mellitus, cover technological innovations, explore artificial intelligence and machine learning approaches to manage diabetes, explore a wide range of non-invasive and alternative routes of insulin administration, and much more. Other chapters cover challenges and strategies in oral insulin delivery, the experimental techniques used to develop oral insulin carriers, the use of polymeric nano and microparticles for insulin delivery, and the use of lipids and inorganic nanoparticles in insulin delivery. The final chapter provide an overview of current clinical trials on insulin delivery and future perspectives in the area. Clinicians can benefit from this information to develop a clear understanding about the research carried out worldwide in the field of oral delivery of insulin, including those in the clinical phase.

Diabetes Mellitus, a syndrome of disordered metabolism, characterised by abnormal elevation in blood glucose level, has become a life-threatening condition for many people. Current means of therapy for Diabetes Mellitus do not mimic the normal physiological pattern of insulin release. Oral delivery is the preferred route of administration due to its non-invasive nature. Oral delivery of insulin presents an overview of Diabetes Mellitus, and discusses the strategies and techniques adopted for oral delivery of insulin. This title begins with an introductory chapter on symptoms, complications and therapy for Diabetes Mellitus. Subsequent chapters cover the various routes for administering insulin; the challenges and strategies of oral delivery; experimental techniques in the development of an oral insulin carrier; lipids; inorganic nanoparticles and polymers in oral insulin delivery; and a summary and presentation of future perspectives on oral delivery of insulin.

Herbal irrigants refer to solutions derived from natural plant extracts that are used for irrigation in various medical and dental procedures, particularly in oral hygiene and endodontic therapy. These irrigants are often chosen for their perceived antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and analgesic properties, as well as their potential to minimize cytotoxicity compared to synthetic alternatives.Herbal medicines are becoming popular and employed in endodontics because they are mostly harmless when used correctly and can be dangerous if overused. Considering that they are beneficial and have few adverse effects, herbs can also be used in endodontic treatment techniques. Safety, ease of accessibility, longer shelf life, economic efficiency, and the absence of microbiological resistance thus far are the main benefits of herbal irrigants. Combining irrigants and using them sequentially will assist to meet all of the requirements for irrigation of the root canal, which will result in successful root canal therapy.
