Thinking Aloud: Whilst Studying the Holy Scriptures

Thinking Aloud: Whilst Studying the Holy Scriptures

This is a short article of reference scriptures utilizing a non-denominational Christian viewpoint whilst studying the Holy Scriptures. I began this study many years ago after discovering very little solace within any of the Christian denominations that exist in the world today. I hold no official qualification in theology, but have spent many years trying to find the truth from the Bible. The Bible was written for all; therefore can be understood by all. Instead of offering an opinion on the subjects listed, I have instead attempted to answer the questions I found to be the most popular utilizing the scriptures alone without any preconceived denominational viewpoint. No preconceived denominational commentary allows the scriptures to speak for themselves. I have however listed denominational viewpoints with supporting scriptures simply for study reference. Contents: - A poem to YHWH. - Who is God? - Who is Jesus Christ of Nazareth? - Can one fully understand God? - For what purpose did Jesus die? - What is the law of God? - Human nature, & where it all went wrong. - Who is Satan? - Why does God allow evil to exist upon earth? - What is the Will of the Father? - Salvation & being Born Again from Above. - Faith; a Gift from God. - How does one know if they are truly saved? - Must one go {or be a member} of a "church" building to be saved? - Which Denomination though is the correct one? - Is the Bible alone sufficient for knowledge upon salvation? - The standard of God's forgiveness. - God; He ordains all events. - Praying. - What is the Lord's Supper? - What is Baptism? - Death. - The future New Earth. - The End Times. - Judgement Day. - Apocatastasis {the reconciliation of all things}. - The True Christian life summary & common objections.

Who are Haredim? And why are they the source of both increasing attention and continuing misunderstanding? New Trends in the Study of Haredi Culture and Society draws on the innovative research of leading scholars from a variety of disciplines—including history, religious studies, demography, linguistics, and geography—to trace the growing prominence of Haredi (often called ultra-Orthodox) Jews in Jewish life. Haredi Jews are committed to preserving a measure of segregation from the rest of society consistent with the guiding principles of their forebears; yet increasingly, they are appearing more visibly and assertively in public spaces. Demographic analysis suggests that they will constitute a much larger share—nearly one-quarter—of the world Jewish population over the next twenty years. By examining the evolution of political, cultural, and social trends in Haredi communities across the globe, this interdisciplinary and transnational volume sheds important light both on Haredi communities and on the societies of which they are part.

There is a desperate need for disciples in today's modern world. 1 Timothy provides a guide book to follow for every person who calls Jesus Christ, Lord. While many see 1 Timothy as the pastoral book, the teachings found within it illustrate the character that a disciple of Jesus should have. Therefore, the encouragement and instruction found in 1 Timothy is for all who strive to be true disciples. We all are called to a ministry, and we all have a mission.
Hadrian’s Wall: A study in archaeological exploration and interpretation
The lectures on which this publication is based were delivered as the Rhind Lectures to the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland in May 2019. The annual Rhind Lectures commemorate Alexander Henry Rhind (1833-1863), a Fellow of the Society renowned for his excavations (finds from which are now in the National Museum of Scotland) and publications. The 2019 lectures were generously sponsored by AOC Archaeology Group. The first two lectures – chapters in this book – provide the historiographical background to our present understanding of Hadrian’s Wall. They start with John Collingwood Bruce, the leading authority on the Wall, from 1848 until his death in 1892, who gave the Rhind lectures in 1883 and whose influence continues to this day. Research on the Wall in the field and in the study from 1892 to the present day are covered in the second lecture. The third and fourth lectures consider the purpose(s) and operation of Hadrian’s Wall from the first plan drawn up soon after Hadrian became emperor in 117 through to the final days of its existence as a frontier shortly after 400. Five distinct ‘plans’ for the Wall are promulgated. The fifth lecture examines the impact of the frontier on the people living in its shadow and beyond. The last lecture reviews the processes which have brought us to an understanding of Hadrian’s Wall and considers the value of research strategies, with some suggestions for the way forward. The chapters in this book reflect closely the lectures themselves with the main change being the addition of references.
