Triple Concerto No. 1: for Alto Saxophone, Piano and Contrabass with Strings and Percussion. Full Score
Dmitri N. Smirnov Triple Concerto No. 1, Op. 21 (1977) for alto saxophone, piano, double bass, strings and percussion. To the 5th anniversary of my and my wife's wedding I wrote a little piece for alto saxophone on musical letters D-(e)S-E-F (for Dmitri Smirnov and Elena Firsova). But it was too short to be a completed and independent piece, and thinking how to develop it, I found myself working on a 3-movement concerto for 3 soloists, strings and percussion, with the lyrical First Movement (Lento), 3 cadenzas as the Second Movement (Risoiluto), and fast Finale (Allegro). It was premiered on 26th December 1977 at the Union of Composers in Moscow with Lev Mikhailov (saxophone), Alexander Bakhchiev (piano), Ivan Kotov (double bass) and Moscow Chamber Orchestra conducted by Lev Markiz.

The first edition of the score of "Es ist..." (Sonata No. 3) for violin and piano Op.109, 1998. The violin part is provided. All additional performing materials are available from Meladina Music: [email protected] Sonata was completed on 21st of June 1998 in St Albans, but its idea came to me a few years earlier, when my family and I lived at the campus of the Keele University in Staffordshire. That time I tried to develop the idea of so-called "complete chords" (combined of all different unrepeated intervals). With the series of such chords I made my own harmonisation of the choral "Es ist genug", the final movement of Cantata BWV 60 "O Ewigkeit, du Donnerwort" by J. S. Bach's. Later returning to that idea I expanded it into 17 minutes long three-movement sonata for violin and piano. Some themes of it are based on the musical spelling of the name of J. S. Bach. The piece is dedicated to the memory of my father-in-law, the eminent physicist-theorist Oleg Borisovich Firsov, who was born on the 13th of June 1915 in Saint Petersburg and died on the 2nd of April 1998 in Moscow. The work was played for the first time by Patricia Kopachinskaia (violin) and Ivan Sokolov (piano) on 20th of August 2002 at the recording session in the studio No. 1 of the Moscow Radio. The recording was included into the CD album "An Introduction to Dmitri Smirnov", Megadisc Classics, MDC7818, Belgium. Dmitri N. Smirnov

Jesus gave people a wonderful game - chess The game is very popular around the world because it helps a person to learn how to make informed decisions; a skill that is becoming increasingly valuable in our ever-expanding world During my 25 years of coaching, I have helped more than 600 boys and girls to learn how to make their first moves in chess. Among them was the world chess champion among people with disabilities Alexey Smirnov (FIDE ID 4168437, FIDE Elo 2451).The ways of learning the basics of chess, which are described in this book, have been repeatedly tested and have brought forth excellent results. The material is given in a simple and effective way, so that ''Teach Yourself Chess'' can be used by any person of any age who has the ability to read. The only requirement for this tutorial is a chessboard with its pieces so that the reader can apply immediately all the theoretical information. This tutorial can be successfully used by parents who want to teach their children the basics of the game.I am sure that this book will be useful for school teachers who decide to introduce their students to an exciting game.

Biological O2 sensing probes and measurement techniques were first introduced in the late 80s. In the last 3-5 years they have undergone major development that have made them available and affordable for a broad range of applications in various disciplines of the life and biomedical sciences. These new chemistries and technologies, which are significantly different from the majority of other fluorescence-based probes and detection techniques, have already demonstrated their high utility. This book will provide a systematic overview of the existing and emerging O2 sensing technologies in their different modifications, a practical guide to their rational selection and use, and examples of biological applications/case studies, including details on how to set up and conduct such experiments, troubleshoot and interpret the data.

The monograph is devoted to one of the most important trends in contemporary mathematical physics, the investigation of evolution equations of many-particle systems of statistical mechanics. The book systematizes rigorous results obtained in this field in recent years, and it presents contemporary methods for the investigation of evolution equations of infinite-particle systems. The book is intended for experts in statistical physics, mathematical physics, and probability theory and for students of universities specialized in mathematics and physics.
Nietzsche's Political Economy

Nietzsche's Political Economy

Safronov’s Nietzsche’s Political Economy is a pioneering appraisal of Nietzsche’s critique of industrial culture and its unfolding crisis. The author contends that Nietzsche remains unique in conceptualizing the upheavals of modern political economy in terms of the crisis of its governing values. Nietzsche scrutinises the norms which, not only preside over the unfathomable build-up in debt, the proliferation of meaningless, impersonal slavery and the rise of increasingly repressive social control systems, but inevitably set these precarious tendencies of modern political economy on a collision course liable to culminate in an unprecedented human and environmental catastrophe. Safronov explores the core themes of Nietzsche’s political economy—debt, slavery, and the division of labour—with reference to the influential views of Adam Smith and Karl Marx, as well as against the backdrop of the Long Depression (1873–1896), the first truly international crisis of industrial capitalism, during which most of Nietzsche’s work was completed. In Nietzsche’s assessment, modern political economy is predicated on the valuations that diminish humankind’s prospects and harm the planet’s future by consistently enfeebling the present, as long as there is profit to be made from it. Nietzsche’s critical insight, which challenges the most fundamental tenet of modern economics and finance, is that in order to build a stronger and intrinsically more valuable future in lieu of simply speculating on it, as though the liberal Promised Land could descend upon us like the manna from heaven at the wave of an invisible hand [of the market], it is necessary to walk from the future we dare to envisage resolutely back to the present we inhabit to determine what demands achieving such a vision would impose upon us, instead of embellishing the ‘here and now’ by cynically discounting the future to the [net] value of the present while disparaging, disowning and rewriting the past to unburden ourselves of its troubling legacy, as we continue to frivolously squander its capital to the alluring tunes of the ‘sirens who in the marketplace sing to us of the future’. The enabling mechanism for changing our valuing perspectives, Nietzsche tells us, lies dormant in us and it must be unlocked before it is too late.

The Internet and the World Wide Web (WWW) play an increasingly imp- tant role in our today's activities. More and more we use the Web to buy goods and to inform ourselves about cultural, political, economical, medical, and scienti?c developments. Scattering Theory: Some Old and New Problems

Scattering Theory: Some Old and New Problems

Scattering theory is, roughly speaking, perturbation theory of self-adjoint operators on the (absolutely) continuous spectrum. It has its origin in mathematical problems of quantum mechanics and is intimately related to the theory of partial differential equations. Some recently solved problems, such as asymptotic completeness for the Schrödinger operator with long-range and multiparticle potentials, as well as open problems, are discussed. Potentials for which asymptotic completeness is violated are also constructed. This corresponds to a new class of asymptotic solutions of the time-dependent Schrödinger equation. Special attention is paid to the properties of the scattering matrix, which is the main observable of the theory. The book is addressed to readers interested in a deeper study of the subject.
Grundung Einer Auslandischen Betriebsstatte Oder Tochtergesellschaft in Russland.
