First Published in 1999. The purpose of this series is to provide a contemporary assessment and history of the entire course of philosophical thought. Each book constitutes a detailed, critical introduction to the work of a philosopher of major influence and significance. Many people share the opinion that Charles S.Peirce is a philosophical giant, perhaps the most important philosopher to have emerged in the United States. Most philosophers think of him as the founder of ‘pragmatism’. But, curiously, few have read more than two or three of his best-known papers, and these somewhat unrepresentative ones. On reading further, one finds a rich and impressive corpus of writings, containing imaginative and original discussions of a wide range of issues in most areas of philosophy.

The purpose of this series is to provide a contemporary assessment and history of the entire course of philosophical thought. Each book constitutes a detailed, critical introduction to the work of a philosopher of major influence and significance. It is sometimes said of Schopenhauer that he was not a very systematic thinker, but in the main structure of Schopenhauer’s major work Das Welt als Wille und Vorstellung is really quite clear, and contains a continuous argument which takes in the bulk of his philosophy. This volume looks at Schopenhauer's works.

A couple years ago, there was a male beagle hanging around the neighborhood who apparently had nowhere else to go. We already had five dogs, which was probably the reason he came to us. He seemed to want to come inside the gate and play with the others. I'd let him in and he would play, jump and run around for about thirty minutes until he got bored and wanted to be let out. This went on multiple times a day for a couple of weeks. Eventually, we were asked if the dog was ours. Because we have so many already, it was just assumed he was. Well, it did not take but a hot minute and a silent look at each other before we said, "Sure, he's ours." The Further Adventures of Phil is a series of short stories about a rescued-from-the-street beagle that came into our lives and changed us all for the better. These stories are told from my own twisted perspectives, unique personal experiences and humorous life observations. These stories are my version of actual events that occurred within the confines of a fenced two-acre back-yard canine oasis. No doggos, squirrels, moles, piggies, turtles, or humans were harmed in the telling of these stories.
If My Name Was Phil Jackson... Would You Read This?
What do you want to be when you grow up?"You can be anything you want to be" "Do something that you love" "Don't take no for an answer" "Find your passion and pursue it" "You have to be happy in what you do..".These are examples of some of the advice we received growing up, while contemplating our life's pursuits. This book explores one man's journey; as he literally took that advice to heart, left a promising career in radio & television, and with no safety net, made a giant leap of faith to become a professional basketball coach. As this coaching neophyte attempts to navigate the scurrilous underbelly of professional basketball, he encounters a number of fascinating characters along the way. Some of whom shape his journey and others who impede it. He becomes a fly on the wall to the swirling world around him and reports his voyage as it takes him from the comfortable suburbs of the Pacific Northwest, across the US and back; from the shanty's of Kingston, Jamaica all the way to the heaving streets of Central China. Is Rick Turner just a gullible and na ve fool, trying to fight against the well established clich of: it's not what you know but who you know?Or is he a romantic dreamer who, by his pursuit, can possibly inspire others that may be hesitant to chase their own passion and realize that the journey can often be more important then the destination?
