Kanpur se caract rise par des caract ristiques physiques diverses, contrairement aux autres villes indiennes. C'est la plus grande et la plus importante ville industrielle de l'Uttar Pradesh (Inde). Kanpur a connu des changements consid rables, car la croissance d mographique (35 %) entre 1991 et 2001 a exerc une pression norme sur la physiographie, notamment l'approvisionnement en eau, l'assainissement et les d chets solides, ce qui a accru la complexit de la gestion du bon fonctionnement de l'approvisionnement en eau et de l'assainissement dans la ville. Le pr sent travail tente de mettre en vidence les divers probl mes auxquels sont confront s diff rents organismes, principalement le Kanpur Jal Sansthan (KJS) et l'U.P. Jal Nigam (UPJL), pour maintenir l'hygi ne de la ville. L'hydrologie urbaine de la ville est divis e en huit chapitres traitant respectivement des diff rentes questions, allant de la litt rature relative aux travaux de recherche, aux informations physiques et g ographiques relatives aux emplacements, la physiographie, l'impact du climat sur la physiographie, la d mographie de la r gion, l'urbanisation et l'utilisation des sols, la disponibilit de l'eau, l' tat du syst me d' vacuation des eaux us es, aux bidonvilles, leur approvisionnement et leur stockage en eau, ainsi qu'aux polluants en amont et en aval de la station de pompage de Bhaironghat.

Il presente lavoro cerca di evidenziare le diverse problematiche che devono affrontare i vari enti, principalmente il Kanpur Jal Sansthan (KJS) e l'U.P. Jal Nigam (UPJL), per mantenere l'igiene della citt . L'idrologia urbana della citt suddivisa in otto capitoli che trattano rispettivamente le varie questioni, dalla letteratura relativa al lavoro di ricerca, alle informazioni fisiche e geografiche relative alle localit , alla fisiografia, all'impatto del clima sulla fisiografia, alla demografia dell'area, all'urbanizzazione e all'uso del suolo, alla disponibilit di acqua, allo stato del sistema fognario, agli insediamenti abusivi, alla loro fornitura e stoccaggio di acqua, e agli inquinanti a valle e a monte della stazione di pompaggio di Bhaironghat.
