Beloved United Methodist pastor Dr. J. Michael Miller impacted the lives of those who knew him with his keen intellect, his exuberant humor and his steady Christian faith. His passing on July 7, 2015 was mourned by people across the country and around the world. But in true Miller fashion, Mike's "Celebration of Life" memorial service was filled with laughter and song. Here are first person stories from people who knew and loved him. The memories span the years of his life from the US Naval Academy through seminary and pastoring student churches to Woodridge, Illinois and teaching at ORU in Tulsa, then back to Illinois and then to Roswell UMC in Georgia. Here also are one or two of Mike's sermons, as well as portions of his book Faithful People and his recent Christmas letters. You will also find reflections from his grandchildren whom he loved and guided. As you read these stories and reflections, may your own faith be strengthened through the radiant life of Mike Miller.
You Are Not Too Much: Love notes on Heartache, Redemption, Reclamation
Have you ever been told you are too much? Too emotional, too sensitive, too loud? The truth is, you are not too much. You have never been too much. You will never be too much. The very idea is preposterous. You were born to be you. All of you. Not a tiny acceptable sliver. Not a watered-down version with colors dulled and edges softened. You were meant to be every last pulsing-bleeding-loving-crying-feeling bit.You are the sun, and the moon, and the stars. You are the force that pulls the tides. You are the unrestrained howl under a wide-open moon. You are the essence of what it is to dance into ecstasy. You are the heat and the sex and the sweat and the burn and the soft and the grace and the grit and the ocean of tears. You make the gods tremble. And that, my dear, is bound to make some people crazy uncomfortable. You Are Not Too Much is a love letter to the wild one within you. When you find yourself in the middle of a breakdown, reckoning, grief, or transformation, let this book be your lighthouse: a guiding light through the storm, leading you back home to yourself. Within these pages is the permission you've been waiting for. Permission to grow into your wholeness. Permission to take up as much space as you need. Permission to ground down into the deep wisdom of your own knowing: You are exactly as you should be. You are not too much.Easy to carry in your purse or backpackRead this book cover to cover, or choose a page each day to discover the wisdom withinPut it by your bedside to start or end your day with a dose of compassion, love and empowerment Perfect to read in your yoga, meditation class, or retreatMakes a great gift for a friend going through grief, transition, or transformation, an offering of radical permission to live all the way into your perfect too-muchnessCompanion inspirational card deck and typographic prints of popular quotes also available to display in your home
You Are Not Too Much: Love Notes on Heartache, Redemption, & Reclamation
It could be said that, considered as a body of work, almost all of my writing could be classified as a love letter.A love letter to those in the midst of the breakdown or a reckoning or a rise. A love letter to the wild ones, to the lost souls, to the free. To the seekers and the lovers of leaving and those intent on finding themselves amidst the rubble.Love letters to you.And always, in the end love letters to myself.I decided to comb through those love letters to find my favorite notes, passages and lines from years of writing, and collect them all together here for you.I hope this beautiful little book is a companion, a guide, a map and a reminder.A reminder of your strength.A reminder of your magic.A reminder of your beauty.A reminder of your wild heart and your holy howl. And a reminder that no, you are not too much. You never have been. You never will be.You are exactly as you should be.Here.Alive.Blessed be.

The poems in this collection speak of the epic tale of being mortal, of viewing death as life's twin and the pressing questions the human condition gives rise to. They mull over the persistent challenge of grounding oneself in reality and explore the passing of time along with the mysterious connection that unites us. They dwell on experiences of love lived, love lost and of existing as love.

Explore unseen architecture dedicated to the invisible forces of nature enveloping the body and the mind. This 'choose your own adventure' format monograph contains the full text transcriptions of the Chicago execution of Jeanette Andrews' audio augmented reality work, "Invisible Museums of the Unseen." The volume also serves as a companion work, delving into the research behind the piece and providing access for remote, static listening of the audio. Originally commissioned by the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago in 2020, this outdoor, GPS-activated audio AR work invited participants to wander fictitious, sonic museums dedicated to how invisible forces of nature (such as gravity, air, reflections, and sound waves) act upon the body and psyche. Situated in four parks throughout Chicago, participants' movements activated these app-based, auditory expressions of the unseen world. This work of invisible architecture creates the framework to investigate the mysterious forces acting upon us and asks if the world is a sensory illusion constructed of an infinite number of invisible building blocks. Each unseen structure is rooted in extensive research in contemporary physics as compared and contrasted with phenomenological philosophy. The work explores issues including what it means to place one's body in a space, the act of being seen in public while being prompted to move in non-traditional ways, the definitions of indoors and outdoors, the phenomenology of sensing the unseen, and what constitutes a museum. Foreword by Lynne Warren.
