Dave Hutchinson, a recently retired professional project manager has been hired to manage a special secret project on behalf of the Monticello Association, the owner of the Thomas Jefferson Cemetery at Monticello. In July 2022, Hutchinson is meeting with Jonathon Coolidge, the current president of the Monticello Association, to hear the details of the origins and goals of the project. "Nearly 25 years ago," Coolidge started, "a DNA study determined that A JEFFERSON fathered the last son of Sally Hemings, one of Thomas Jefferson's female enslaved persons. But the study could not prove conclusively that Thomas Jefferson himself was the father because Jefferson did not have any male heirs. The Thomas Jefferson Foundation, owners of Monticello, used that study and additional soft evidence like oral histories and Jefferson's presence at Monticello during Hemings' conception times to conclude definitely in 2018 that Jefferson fathered that last son and all of the children of Sally Hemings. Our Association believes it's time to determine scientifically whether or not Jefferson fathered that last son or any of her children. In the last ten years, dental pulp from molar teeth has become a reliable scientific source of DNA material. We have the possibility of obtaining such DNA tooth samples in Jefferson's own cemetery. The question is, can it be done without exhumation of the remains?" After a moment of silence where you could hear a pin drop, Hutchinson gasped and said, "You mean we are going to drill into Jefferson's grave to be near enough to his skull to get a molar tooth for a DNA sample?" And so, the quest for Jefferson's DNA began.

Jefferson Country - A Tale of Love and Revolution in the Oncoming Age of Aquarius
This tale of love and revolution takes place in 1975 in picturesque Charlottesville, Virginia. Like many other famous works of fiction, Jefferson Country is a roman a clef-it presents real events in a fictionalized framework and uses fictitious characters and real people to advance its conflicts. Jefferson Country's author, who writes under a pseudonym, ties its parallel plots together in the cult murder of Roberta Wiley. Henry Tilghman is the prime suspect. He is drawn into a love relationship with Claire Fox as she helps him decipher the bizarre pictogram on Roberta's body and unravel the mystery that underlies her execution-and saves him from the gallows In the course of their investigation, Henry and Claire learn that the Age of Aquarius is about to dawn and that a cosmic cleansing must be completed before it can begin. They also discover that a great societal reordering is underway and that the world is about to undergo a devastating transformation. The agents of this upheaval have gathered in the hills and dales around Thomas Jefferson's historic residence. They are all powerful, doctrinaire, and capable murder. And each is wearing a weird medallion with the ox skull Henry copied from Roberta's body The two sleuths soon discover the same icon in the frieze on Jefferson's parlor mantle. Murder Revolution Thomas Jefferson The relentless power of the stars What's going on?

Jefferson Davis was a proponent of the high road to emancipation. He looked to the day in which slaves would be prepared to live within and participate in a democratic society. He did more than advocate for the high road to emancipation-as this book documents, he practiced his belief in the ultimate emancipation of Southern slaves. Many of his former slaves left for posterity their testimony about their former master-a master who prepared them for freedom as self-sustaining members of society. The North's ruling elites justified their invasion, conquest, and occupation of the Confederate States of America by declaring that the South was fighting to preserve slavery and that secession was treason. After the unfortunate end of the War for Southern Independence, the United States arrested President Jefferson Davis on charges of treason. Davis demanded a trial, yet the United States never brought Davis to trial-why? Were they afraid they would lose in court? Davis, and through him the South, was unjustly tried in the court of public opinion-a court controlled by the North's ruling elites. This book gives the defense that Davis and the South never had.

Jefferson Pinder: The Black Subversive
Working between activism and performance, Pinder creates texts and diagrams exploring the interdependence of art and politics As the commercialization and popularity of the "Black struggle" in mainstream culture continues, artists and creatives are being challenged to reinvent and refocus their approach to activism with the explicit intention of helping people understand race dynamics. Jefferson Pinder: The Black Subversive decodes the Chicago-based artist’s performance work and uniquely straddles the subtle boundaries of activism and drama, challenging art audiences and civilians alike. Functioning as an "instruction manual" for subversive work, the book poetically reveals the inner workings of Pinder's performative practice. Enthralled by mid-20th-century "cut-away illustrations," Pinder (born 1970) develops texts and diagrams that reveal the connection between art and politics and the inner workings of a politicized performance practice in which every artistic choice is imbued with symbolism and meaning. In addition to performance documentation and insight into the research that informs the artist’s work, the book includes essays by scholars Carlos Sirah, Jordana Saggese and Isaiah Wooden.

Founding Father George Wythe was clearly the most influential teacher in American history, judged by student achievement in high public office. In this groundbreaking book, Suzanne Munson shines a light on Wythe's widespread influence on the country's first platoon of statesmen, those who set the standard for public service. For the first time, Munson details Wythe's mindset behind the three lifetime achievements that his student Thomas Jefferson wanted engraved on his tombstone: author of the Declaration of Independence, author of the Virginia Statute for Religious Freedom, and father of the University of Virginia. After reading an account of Wythe's unusual death-poisoned by a deranged nephew looking for an early inheritance-Munson became fascinated by Wythe's life, and wondered why Americans today know so little about this outstanding Founding Father and signer of the Declaration of Independence. She grew interested especially in Wythe's influence on Thomas Jefferson. For five years, young Jefferson received the equivalent of an education from the world's finest university as Wythe's legal apprentice. At the same time, Wythe shared his radical ideas with the youth about religious freedom, democracy, public education, and a host of other important reforms. This break-through book is a must-read for every student of American history.Prior to devoting full-time to writing, Munson served in executive communications positions with various corporate and nonprofit organizations. With family dating to the Jamestown settlement, she has always had a love of Virginia history and an interest in the influence of Virginia leaders on the early success of America's democratic republic.Upon reading this book, here is what Professor Emeritus of George Washington University, E. Benjamin Howerton, had to say: "Behind every great man is usually a great mentor. This important book explores Wythe's role as a master teacher of leaders and his profound influence on the thinking of his star pupil, Thomas Jefferson. I marvel knowing that young Jefferson would never have been expected to grasp the significance of crucial concepts such as the separation of church and state, until his association with a gifted mentor like George Wythe." Dr. Howerton holds a Ed.D degree from the University of Virginia, is a former Virginia Superintendent of Education, and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of First Freedom Center.

150 years ago, in the unreconstructed south, a group of powerful families form an organization for the protection of the old plantation way of life. In a climactic moment of terror, they murder a man who shouldn't exist, a man whose very life could change history. Then the group vanishes into time. 150 years later, young idealist Will Benning discovers his own family's involvement with this group. Horrified, Benning flees his Southern home and heads for a friend in Boston. Hounded and desperate, he sells a box of odd and seemingly unrelated possessions, including two valuable Jefferson Bibles and a glass bottle filled with a strange dirt-like substance to rare book dealer, and ex-con, Quincy Adams Caine. That night, Benning is murdered, and Caine's shop is burglarized. The bottle vanishes. Left with an odd series of clues, Caine finds that the only way to avoid becoming the prime suspect is to solve the crimes himself. Working parallel to Boston Police Captain Jason Morgan, Caine travels to Georgia, but he's not alone. A shady private detective, Benning's own family, and history itself stand between Caine and the mysteries of Jefferson's Ashes.
Jefferson’s Revolutionary Theory and the Reconstruction of Educational Purpose
This book newly interprets the educational implications of Thomas Jefferson’s revolutionary thought. In an age where American democracy is imperilled and the civic purposes of schooling eviscerated, Burch turns to Jefferson to help bring to life the values and principles that must be recovered in order for Americans to transcend the narrow purposes of education prescribed by today’s neoliberal paradigm. The author argues that critical engagement with the most radical dimensions of Jefferson’s educational philosophy can establish a rational basis upon which to re-establish the civic purposes of public education. Bracketing the defining features of Jefferson's theory throughout each of the chapters, the author illuminates the deficiencies of the dominant educational paradigm, and charts a new path forward for its progressive renewal.
