The Jacob Ford Jr. Mansion: The Storied History of a New Jersey Home

In 1772, the Ford family began building what would easily become the largest home in Morristown and years later became the site of the first National Historic Park in the United States. Completed just before colonial unrest reached a boiling point, the home quickly secured a reputation as a place of prominence for supporters of colonial interests. Today, the mansion is best known as George Washington's headquarters, when it became a strategic site for Washington during a winter encampment and gained importance for its role in the American Revolution. Jude Pfister tells the story of this beloved home that has endured the tests of time and whose own history is inextricably woven into that of the country's.

More than ever, Poetry is to never remain silent. In this world of violence and injustice, poetry has to play an important role always with the ones who suffer. This is exactly what MVP does "to glorify God"-as he always states: he innovates; he speaks from the heart in defending the rights of life, peace and everyday awareness that inspires hope. We resist the oppression by unifying the shape of our streets in The Bronx (where his life started) from the neighborhood connivance to an impersonal tower to citizens and individuals whose minds are egoistic. These towers don't only represent an urban change, but also a new organization of our society in which a person or a family doesn't matter, especially if belongs to a Latino or African American culture. MVP-Most Valuable Poet Volume 1 is just the beginning of series of poems that inspires, and touch lives deeply. Poetry will never stay silent "and needs to be empowering as a weapon to infuse truth in honoring God with raps, arguments, reasons and, photos of what is happening to us. We are all been abducted by silence, however, poetry is a platform where we (the artists) are fearlessly genuine in telling our own stories in assuring that no one tells it for us". The streets are burning with tears. In 2015, more than 1300 people were killed by the police in an uncontrolled burst of violence more common of dictatorships. Poems have to say we are with victims against oppression; this spiral of violence embodies desensitization where people become heartless. We have to shout aloud in recognition that All Lives Matters This book depicts what is happening right now in the streets. It has been written by a man from a neighborhood where he has seen people fall and end up in prison or dead before their time (in front of his eyes). This book represents knowledge that promotes faith, reasons to stand up and resist, -but more so come together in changing the world through God's eyes where in Philippians chapter 4, verse 13 states: I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. We need poets & spoken words unify to combat war with love, peace, & prosperity". John Navidad, Publisher and Poet

Horatio Alger Jr. (1832 - 1899) was a prolific 19th-century American writer, best known for his many young adult novels about impoverished boys and their rise from humble backgrounds to lives of middle-class security and comfort through hard work, determination, courage, and honesty. His writings were characterized by the "rags-to-riches" narrative, which had a formative effect on America during the Gilded Age. All of Alger's juvenile novels share essentially the same theme, known as the "Horatio Alger myth" a teenage boy works hard to escape poverty. Often it is not hard work that rescues the boy from his fate but rather some extraordinary act of bravery or honesty. The boy might return a large sum of lost money or rescue someone from an overturned carriage. This brings the boy-and his plight-to the attention of a wealthy individual. In this book: The Disagreeable Woman Rupert's ambition Ragged Dick Adrift in New York

This is my book of thoughts and ideas accumulated over the years. I started writing hip hop songs at the age of fifteen. I grew up in an urban area and I found comfort in listening to songs that reflected similar living conditions to the ones I lived in. I would often write stories about my life and how I felt. This book is a compilation of those stories in poem form.

Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr., Pragmatism, and the Jurisprudence of Agon
This book argues that Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr., helps us see the law through an Emersonian lens by the way in which he wrote his judicial dissents. Holmes’s literary style mimics and enacts two characteristics of Ralph Waldo Emerson’s thought: “superfluity” and the “poetics of transition,” concepts ascribed to Emerson and developed by literary critic Richard Poirier. Using this aesthetic style borrowed from Emerson and carried out by later pragmatists, Holmes not only made it more likely that his dissents would remain alive for future judges or justices (because how they were written was itself memorable, whatever the value of their content), but also shaped our understanding of dissents and, in this, our understanding of law. By opening constitutional precedent to potential change, Holmes’s dissents made room for future thought, moving our understanding of legal concepts in a more pragmatic direction and away from formalistic understandings of law. Included in this new understanding is the idea that the “canon” of judicial cases involves oppositional positions that must be sustained if the law is to serve pragmatic purposes. This process of precedent-making in a common-law system resembles the construction of the literary canon as it is conceived by Harold Bloom and Richard Posner.
