Vuonna 1759 ilmestyi Pehr Kalmin johdolla Johan Grundbergin opinnäyte koivusta. Työ syntyi tieteellisen vallankumouksen aikaan: Luonnontiede oli siirtymässä uuteen aikakauteen systematiikan ja menetelmien kehittymisen myötä. Turun Akatemia oli varsinkin luonnontieteissä muuttunut käytäntöä palvelevaksi, ja ruotsin kieltä alettiin käyttää perinteisen latinan ohella. Kalmin/Grundbergin työ esittää tunnetun koivutiedon antiikin ajoista lähtien ja käyttää lähteenään myös 1700-luvun uusinta kirjallisuutta.Käännöksen ja alkuperäistekstin yhteydessä on kuvateksteinä esitetty kaikki työssä mainitut lähteet ja niiden lisäksi selostettu koivuun liittyvää muuta menneinä vuosisatoina julkaistua materiaalia.Alkuperäisen työn rakenteen mukaisesti Kalmin esittämä tieto on päivitetty tähän päivään. Osa vanhasta tiedosta pätee yhä, mutta paljon on sellaista, jota Kalm ei ole tiennyt. Kaivauslöytöjen perusteella on yllättäen tullut ilmi, että koivua on käytetty jopa muinaisessa Egyptissä. Von ihrer Entdeckung des Ph nomens "Polarisation der Aufmerksamkeit" ber ihr Konzept der sensiblen Phasen bis hin zum kosmischen Plan versuchte sie die Bedeutung der Kindheit und die Natur des Kindes zu hinterfragen. Das Kind befinde sich ihrer Ansicht nach in einem Klassenkampf gegen die "Gro en," die es an seiner Entfaltung hindern. All diese grundlegenden Elemente sind Mittelpunkt dieser Arbeit, die sowohl ihr p dagogisches Erbe in seinen Grundz gen vorstellt, als auch die Person Maria Montessori in einen gr eren Fokus r ckt. Aufgrund wichtiger Eckpunkte ihrer Biographie, die sich gut mit ihren p dagogischen Gedanken verkn pfen lassen, wird ihr Lebenslauf einen gro en Teil der Arbeit einnehmen. Die wichtigsten Grundlagen ihrer P dagogik sowie die theoretische Basis werden vorgestellt. Voraussichtlich kann nicht auf jede wichtige Facette eingegangen werden, da der Rahmen der Arbeit zu einengend ist, somit wird versucht einen guten berblick ber Leben und Werk zu vermitteln. Inwiefern die Ideen Montessoris heute noch weiterleben, soll in einer statistischen Ausf hrung ber deutsche Montessori-Einrichtungen deutlich gemacht werden. Ob sich dort die Ziele und Methoden mit befriedigendem Ergebnis heute noch umsetzen lassen, ist eine schwierige Frage, die meist nur auf empirischen Untersuchungen basierend und nur d rftig beantwortet werden kann.
