AJ: I know Dante's story better than anyone. After all, I was the one who rescued him from his homophobic, abusive father eight years ago. Since then, I've kept my distance, but when I run into him at the Marian House gala and he doesn't recognize me, I can't resist the incredible, sensitive man he's become.I would do anything to protect Dante Marian, but what if his past keeps me from being part of his future?Dante: Every new relationship has obstacles, it just turns out that ours involves my bumbling inexperience (ugh), an octogenarian naughty toy party (don't ask), and being on the run in an RV with Aunt Tilly (it involves the Secret Service- no really, don't ask). When my biological father takes his homophobic views to a national platform, the only way to stand up for what I believe in is to claim my past and confront him. So now it's time to decide: do I put the past behind me and walk away from AJ for good or face my biggest fear and fight for what's mine?

The cat and kitten were both eating supper and Marian was watching them. Her own supper of bread and milk she had finished, and had taken the remains of it to Tippy and Dippy. Marian did not care very much for bread and milk, but the cat and kitten did, as was plainly shown by the way they hunched themselves down in front of the tin pan into which Marian had poured their supper. In the next room Grandpa and Grandma Otway were sitting and little bits of their talk came to Marian's ears once in a while when her thoughts ceased to wander in other directions. "If only one could have faith to believe implicitly," Grandma Otway said.

Marian devotion flourished as part of the affective piety movement in late medieval Europe. As Karen Saupe notes, “what was most important about Mary was her unique identity as the point of connection between the divine and the human.” Fulfilling the paradoxical roles of virtuous virgin, loving human mother, and queen of heaven, Mary became for her worshipers a powerful intercessor to Christ—to whom penitents could turn to beg forgiveness for their sins. This edition compiles 93 lyrics from the thirteenth through fifteenth centuries to provide a representative sampling of Middle English Marian devotion. Saupe’s volume presents nine sections, beginning with iconic moments in Mary’s life (the Annunciation, Nativity, Crucifixion, and Assumption) and progressing into later categories of prayer and praise. While most of the lyrics remain anonymous, a handful are attributed to known authors, including Chaucer, Lydgate, Hoccleve, and Dunbar. Altogether, they express the efforts of the English populace to voice their anxieties and joys through Mary.

As Christians, we know we have not been promised an easy, carefree life. And yet we resist suffering at every turn, despite Jesus' clear and direct conditions if we want to be his disciples: "Whoever wishes to come after me must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me" (Mt 16:24). The truth is most of us find the cross bitter. We'd rather not have to carry it, and we wonder why God demands it of us. In Sweet Cross: A Marian Guide to Suffering, Laura Phelps reveals not only why suffering is a necessary part of our Christian life, but how we can learn to carry our cross without fear or complaint -- and even to find that it is sweet. The secret is Mary. Mary teaches us to be patient in our pain and strong in our suffering. Imitating her virtues fortifies us to embrace our suffering and to see the cross as it truly is: the place where Jesus shows his incredible love for us, and where we are given the opportunity to love him in return. Mary Day by Day: Marian Meditations for Every Day Taken from the Holy Bible and the Writings of the Saints
Mary Day By Day 978-1-937913-07-6Mary Day by Day: Marian Meditations for Every Day Taken from the Holy Bible and the Writings of the Saints, published by Catholic Book Publishing, is a cherished devotional that offers Catholics a daily opportunity to deepen their devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Compiled with an introduction by Rev. Charles G. Fehrenbach, C.Ss.R., this book features a Scripture verse, a quotation from a saint, and a prayer for each day, all focused on Mary's life and virtues. Its benefits enrich the spiritual lives of readers by fostering a closer relationship with Mary and, through her, with JesusOne primary benefit is its enhancement of Marian devotion. Each meditation draws from the Bible--such as "Behold, your mother" (John 19:27)--and pairs it with insights from saints like St. Bernard or St. Alphonsus Liguori, who extol Mary's role as Mother and Queen. This daily focus aligns with the Catechism's teaching that devotion to Mary leads us to Christ (CCC 971), offering a structured way to honor her as the Church encourages, especially in May and October.Among the Features of this Book: Robust Dura-Lux CoverIllustrations and two-tone printingImages and Pictures Throughout366 days of reflections Size 4-3/8" x 6-3/4"Durably sewn bindingHigh-quality paperConveniently sized to accommodate nightstand or purseImprimaturNihil ObstatVisit our website www.catholicbookpublishing.com for more Catholic resources to strengthen your faith. The book's brevity--each entry takes just a minute--makes it a practical tool for busy Catholics. Encased in a blue Dura-Lux cover with a ribbon marker and two-color illustrations, it's portable and inviting, encouraging a consistent prayer habit. This regularity nurtures spiritual discipline, a practice linked to emotional resilience in studies like those from The Journal of Spirituality in Mental Health (2020), while fitting seamlessly into daily life.Spiritually, it deepens faith by connecting readers to Mary's example. Reflections on her humility, obedience, or intercession--drawn from saints' writings--invite imitation of her Fiat ("Let it be done," Luke 1:38). The prayers, often petitions for her guidance, reinforce her role as Mediatrix, helping Catholics entrust their needs to her care, as tradition affirms (CCC 2677). This strengthens trust in God's plan through Mary's maternal lens.Emotionally, it provides comfort and inspiration. In times of trial, a meditation on "Mary kept all these things in her heart" (Luke 2:51) offers solace, reminding readers of her steadfast presence. For Catholics, Mary Day by Day transforms daily prayer into a joyful journey with the Mother of God, fostering peace, purpose, and a profound connection to the Communion of Saints--one brief, beautiful moment at a time.Benefits of a compact bookPortability - A small, compact book is easy to carry, making it convenient for travel, commuting, or reading on the go.Accessibility - Its size allows for quick reference, whether for study, prayer, or casual reading, without the bulk of a larger volume.Discreetness - A compact book can be read in public or private without drawing much attention, making it ideal for personal reflection or study.Durability - Smaller books often have sturdier bindings and covers, allowing them to withstand frequent handling and travel.Efficiency - Concise and well-organized content ensures that the reader gets essential information without unnecessary bulk, making learning or devotion more focused and effective.Visit our website www.catholicbookpublishing.com for more Catholic resources to strengthen your faith. This is the story of the Marian Convent of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary of Scranton, Pennsylvania. It has been a deeply moving experience for me to research and write the history of the Marian Convent, 1956-2005. Much of this forty-nine year history has been captured through my interviews with past IHM administrators of this facility. Their living memories remind all of us of the courage which brought the physical facility into being, and the commitment of our entire IHM Congregation over the years to support our ill and retired sisters by our love, respect, and financial treasure.
