"Everything I Shoot Is Art" is a collection of essays and interviews written by Swedish art critic and researcher Mathias Jansson along the last few years, and first published on various online magazines and journals. Their main, though not unique, concern are the various possible connection lines that can be drawn between what we usually call "games" and what we usually call "art", in the constant effort to help finding a broader, more comprehensive definition for the latter. Included are interviews with artists and indie game designers, from Rafael Rozendaal to Pippin Barr. Mathias Jansson is a Swedish art critic and researcher. He writes about New Media Art and Game Art for blogs and magazines such as Gamescenes, Digimag and Next Level. His main body of work consists of a huge corpus of interviews with the pioneers of Game Art, as well as critics, curators and gallery owners operating in the field of Game Art.

Visions of utopia – some hopeful, others fearful – have become increasingly prevalent in recent times. Forms of social dreaming are tracked across two domains: political theory and speculative fiction. The notion that we have lost the ability to imagine change—culturally, socially, and politically—has become one of the defining problems of our time. But what is the difference between the populist narratives of those who promise to solve this problem by returning us to a glorious past and those who promise to lead us into a glorious future? Often, this book argues, not very much at all. Revealing neo-authoritarianism and capitalist hyper-innovation as two sides of the same coin, Mathias Nilges shows that today's reactionaries and futurists both harness and profit from the same temporal crises of our present.Looking to design, popular culture, literature, and recent theoretical and political discussions, Nilges offers ways of understanding the re-emergence of familiar and disturbing forms of right-wing politics and culture (authoritarianism, paternalism, fascism) not as historical repetition but as dangerous consequences of the contradictions of capitalism today. This book explores Elvis Presley’s global transformation from a teenage rebel figure into one of the U.S.’s major pop-cultural embodiments from a historical perspective. It shows how Elvis’s rise was part of an emerging transnational youth culture whose political impact was heavily conditioned by the Cold War. As well as this, the book analyses Elvis’s stint as G.I. soldier in West Germany, where he acted as an informal ambassador for the so-called American way of life and was turned into a deeply patriotic figure almost overnight.
