Die berlebensraten von implantatgetragenen Einzel- und Mehrzahnversorgungen sind vergleichbar mit denen von implantatgetragenen Prothesen bei v llig zahnlosen Patienten. Das Ziel der modernen Implantattherapie ist jedoch mehr als nur die erfolgreiche Osseointegration ( berleben) des Implantats. Ein erfolgreiches Ergebnis muss auch eine sthetische und funktionelle Versorgung bieten, die von gesunden periimplant ren Geweben umgeben ist, die mit dem vorhandenen Gebiss harmonieren. Ein stabiles Niveau des periimplant ren Knochens ist ein fester Parameter f r den Implantaterfolg. Als Verfahren zur Verbesserung des langfristigen Knochenerhalts um die Implantate wurde eine neue Implantat-Abutment-Verbindung vorgeschlagen, die als "Platform Switching" bezeichnet wird. Das daraus resultierende krestale Knochenniveau um Zahnimplantate nach der Restauration ist seit vielen Jahren ein Diskussionsthema und wird als Referenz f r die Bewertung des Implantaterfolgs verwendet.
