Randy likes space, robots, and baseball, but he can't ace everything . . . or can he? Chris Van Dusen knocks one out of the park with a comical ode to ingenuity. Randy Riley loves two things: science and baseball. When it comes to the solar system, the constellations, and all things robot, Randy is a genius. But on the baseball diamond? Not so much. He tries . . . but whiffs every time. Then, one night, Randy sees something shocking through his Space Boy telescope: it's a fireball, and it's headed right for his town Randy does the math, summons all of his science smarts, and devises a plan that will save the day in a spectacular way. Once again, Chris Van Dusen winds up his visual humor, dizzying perspectives, perfect pacing, and rollicking rhyme and delivers a hit to make readers stand up and cheer.

Fort Riley and Its Neighbors is a story of soldiers trying to save money and civilians trying to make it.Fort Riley stands today overlooking the Kansas River because army quartermasters in the 1850s thought that small steamboats could deliver supplies cheaply there. Civilians came to help build the fort and stayed to bid on the quartermaster's contracts for feed and fuel.Army posts were often a magnet for settlers. Contracts for supplies and transportation brought hard-to-find cash to small western towns, replacing systems of barter and credit and integrating them into the national economy.Townspeople kept a covetous eye on Fort Riley's land and its resources, and they voted bond issues to build short-line railroads in order to get competitive freight rates from trans-continental carriers. These short lines put Fort Riley at the center of the nation's transportation system, assuring the fort's survival for the next century. The history of Fort Riley and its neighbors typifies the relations that evolved between the American people and their government throughout the American West. The settlers' approach to federal authority, at once supplicating and conniving, has persisted and thrived and become the national attitude. This book won first place in the Dr. Edward Tihen Historical Research and Publication competition, November 5, 1999. This award is presented by the Kansas State Historical Society for Kansas books written by first-time authors.

Duke Riley s work explores his lifelong fascination with urban waterways, their historical relationship to the transgressive culture of life at sea, and the uneasy intersections of human geography with the physical world. His signature style interweaves historical and contemporary events with elements of fiction and myth to create allegorical histories. His re-imagined narratives comment on a range of issues from the cultural impact of over development and environmental destruction of waterfront communities to contradictions within political ideologies and the role of the artist in society. This comprehensive monograph is a collection of Riley s work from his expansive twenty plus year career, encompassing drawing, sculpture, mosaics, performance, and more than one maritime adventure. Including his Fly By Night public art project of pigeons flying across the NYC skyline, illuminated by LED lights, the documentary film of bedbug heist Non-Essential Consultants, and the mayhem of the 2009 mock Roman naval battle, Those About To Die Salute You at the Queens Museum. Deluxe Edition of 100 copies retailing for $250. Contains the book packaged in a clamshell box with a signed and numbered artist print .

Rob Riley was at the centre of debates that polarised views on race relations in Australia: land rights, treaty, deaths in custody, self-determination, justice system, native title and the Stolen Generations. Tragically he took his own life in 1996, shocking community leaders and citizens alike. Riley's life raises profound questions about our past, our present and our future.

Smiley Riley is a young girl learning about life and has a knack for finding adventures. Smiley Riley is smart, confident, funny, polite, caring, athletic and positive and while she is very "girly" she also likes a bit of rough-and-tumble. She was given a "lucky bracelet" by her grandmother - this bracelet apparently gives the wearer a "little help" through its four charms - for knowledge, strength, courage and love. Smiley Riley and the New Neighbor is the first reading book in the "Smiley Riley Adventure Series". In the first book in the series, Smiley Riley meets Noodles - a young boy who has just moved into the house across the road. He and his family have a house full of animals that they have rescued from around the world. Smiley Riley and Noodles become fast friends - a small drama with Smiley Riley's Lucky Bracelet. Smiley Riley and the New Neighbor is a great reading book for young readers - bursting with color and amazing illustrations.

Published on the occasion of Bridget Riley’s major exhibition at David Zwirner in London in the summer of 2014, this fully illustrated catalogue offers intimate explorations of paintings and works on paper produced by the legendary British artist over the past fifty years, focusing specifically on her recurrent use of the stripe motif. Riley has devoted her practice to actively engaging viewers through elementary shapes such as lines, circles, curves, and squares, creating visual experiences that at times trigger optical sensations of vibration and movement. The London show, her most extensive presentation in the city since her 2003 retrospective at Tate Britain, explored the stunning visual variety she has managed to achieve working exclusively with stripes, manipulating the surfaces of her vibrant canvases through subtle changes in hue, weight, rhythm, and density. As noted by Paul Moorhouse, “Throughout her development, Riley has drawn confirmation from Eugène Delacroix’s observation that ‘the first merit of a painting is to be a feast for the eyes.’ [Her] most recent stripe paintings are a striking reaffirmation of that principle, exciting and entrancing the eye in equal measure.” Created in close collaboration with the artist, the publication’s beautifully produced color plates offer a selection of the iconic works from the exhibition. These include the artist’s first stripe works in color from the 1960s, a series of vertical compositions from the 1980s that demonstrate her so-called “Egyptian” palette—a “narrow chromatic range that recalled natural phenomena”—and an array of her modestly scaled studies, executed with gouache on graph paper and rarely before seen. A range of texts about Riley’s original and enduring practice grounds and contextualizes the images, including new scholarship by art historian Richard Shiff, texts on both the artist’s wall paintings and newest body of work by Paul Moorhouse, 20th Century Curator at the National Portrait Gallery in London, and a 1978 interview with Robert Kudielka, her longtime confidant and foremost critic. Additionally, the book features little-seen archival imagery of Riley at work over the years; documentation of her recent commissions for St. Mary’s Hospital in West London, taken especially for this publication; and installation views of the exhibition itself, installed throughout the three floors of the gallery’s eighteenth-century Georgian townhouse located in the heart of Mayfair.
