There is little doubt that the prevalence of patients with underlying medical condition seeking orthodontic care has increased over the past two decades. A pilot study performed in 2002 of several orthodontic practices revealed that more than 25% of patients seeking orthodontic therapy had some medical diagnosis that potentially impacted their care. While the general dentistry literature addresses many of these diagnosis and their medical and dental management, there is a paucity of information in the orthodontic literature as to the impact of these conditions on orthodontic care.

The gnathologic concept is useful in restoring teeth as well as eliminating occlusal problems. The mandibular movements can occur in either of the three planes; frontal, horizontal and sagittal. The movements in either of the planes are guided by the proprioceptive impulses. In dentulous patients, the impulses are obtained from the periodontal ligament whereas in edentulous patients, the impulses are generated from the temporomandibular joint. While mandibular movements cannot be reproduced with complete accuracy on an articulator, we should reproduce them with as much accuracy as possible to minimize damage to supporting structures from occlusal disharmony.This book aims at describing the importance of the maxilla-mandibular relations in maintaining the harmony of the stomatognathic system.
Sintesi Verde Di Nanoparticelle d'Argento E Loro Attività Catalitica
La chimica verde alle frontiere della chimica, concentrandosi sulla progettazione di prodotti e processi che riducono al minimo l'uso e la generazione di sostanze tossiche e pericolose. Per un futuro formidabile della nanotecnologia, la strategia sintetica verde dovrebbe essere adottata per la sintesi delle nanoparticelle utilizzando molecole ecologicamente benigne e rinnovabili per liberarsi dei pericoli derivanti dall'uso di agenti chimici riducenti e solventi organici. Il presente studio discute la sintesi di nanoparticelle d'argento utilizzando una modalit pi verde, tecniche irradiate a microonde da biopolimeri come agar, amido ed estratti di foglie di neem e moringa. La competenza catalitica delle nanoparticelle sintetizzate stata studiata per la degradazione del naftolo verde B con NaBH4. Il catalizzatore mostra una notevole attivit catalitica per questa reazione. Questo approccio verde per la sintesi delle nanoparticelle ha diverse attrazioni promettenti e pu essere utilizzato per la produzione su larga scala di nanoparticelle d'argento che trovano applicazione come nanocatalizzatori.
