G&B Detective Agency: The Welch Avenue Wizards is the fourth novel in the G&B Detective Agency series. Detectives Max and Skip are hired by Ben Ralston, independent insurance agent and next door neighbor to the G&B Detective Agency, to investigate a fire that gutted the Cosmic Comics store on Welch Avenue. The only problem is that the state fire investigator has already investigated and determined that the fire was caused by faulty electrical wiring. But Ben has a gut feeling that there is more to it, and the two millionaire detectives let him talk them into investigating for one week to see if they can find evidence that points to something else. A case that looks like a routine follow-up to the state investigator's findings turns into more than anyone could imagine and the roughest case they've been involved with yet. Follow Max, Skip and Monica as they take on the Welch Avenue Wizards.Rollie Link retired from police work in 2006. Beginning with his early days in patrol, for twenty-nine years he worked every aspect of law enforcement until his return to patrol and his retirement as a day shift patrol lieutenant. Over the years on the department, he regularly pooled with his fellow officers to play the Powerball, and like everyone who plays the lottery, he spent hours thinking about what he would do if he ever won. After years of not even coming close, he decided to put those daydreams on paper. In his fourth novel, "The Welch Avenue Wizards," Link takes his two millionaire detectives on another exciting case in the G&B Detective Agency series.
G. E. Moore: Early Philosophical Writings
G. E. Moore's fame as a philosopher rests on his ethics of love and beauty, which inspired Bloomsbury, and on his 'common sense' certainties which challenge abstract philosophical theory. Behind this lies his critical engagement with Kant's idealist philosophy, which is published here for the first time. These early writings, Moore's fellowship dissertations of 1897 and 1898, show how he initiated his influential break with idealism. In 1897 his main target was Kant's ethics, but by 1898 it was the whole Kantian project of transcendental philosophy that he rejected, and the theory which he developed to replace it gave rise to the new project of philosophy as logical analysis. This edition includes comments by Moore's examiners Henry Sidgwick, Edward Caird and Bernard Bosanquet, and in a substantial introduction the editors explore the crucial importance of the dissertations to the history of twentieth-century philosophical thought.

Originally published in 1939, this book was formed from the Le Bas Prize Essay for 1938. Given the relatively concise nature of the text, biographical exposition is avoided in favour of a detailed analysis of Chesterton's philosophical standpoint and literary achievements. There are seven chapters discussing the following areas: 'Background and Influences'; 'Orthodoxy and the Catholic Church'; 'Political Beliefs'; 'The Novels'; 'The Essays'; 'The Poems'; 'Style and Argument'. This book will be of value to anyone with an interest in the works of Chesterton, philosophy and literary criticism.

G. F. Watts was one of the major artistic figures of the nineteenth century. In this work published in 1905, only a year after Watts' death, Emilie Barrington (1841–1933) reflects on the close friendship she and her husband had with the renowned artist. Her aim in writing her volume of reminiscences was to accurately record her knowledge of Watts' life. She describes her first impressions, when she first met him in Dante Gabriel Rossetti's studio. Chapters also cover Watts' aims as an artist, his relationships and his genius. This fascinating book is highly illustrated throughout, including Watts' sketches, symbolical paintings and portraits. The reader will gain an intriguing insight into the life and work of this complex character, widely considered to be the greatest painter of the Victorian age. Dirichlet Peter Gustav Lejeune

pokkari
The great nineteenth-century mathematician Peter Gustav Lejeune Dirichlet (1805–59) studied in Paris, coming under the influence of scholars including Fourier and Legendre. He then taught at Berlin and Göttingen universities, where he was the successor to Gauss and mentor to Riemann and Dedekind. His achievements include the first satisfactory proof of the convergence of Fourier series under appropriate conditions, and the theorem on primes in arithmetic progression which was, at the same time, the foundation of analytic number theory and one of its greatest achievements. He also did important work on Laplace's equation, the theory of series and many other topics. This two-volume collection of his works, published 1889–97, was compiled by Leopold Kronecker (1823–91). Volume 1 contains works published by Dirichlet up to 1843, together with a related 1846 essay.

G is for Genes shows how a dialogue between geneticists and educationalists can have beneficial results for the education of all children—and can also benefit schools, teachers, and society at large. Draws on behavioral genetic research from around the world, including the UK-based Twins’ Early Development Study (TEDS), one of the largest twin studies in the worldOffers a unique viewpoint by bringing together genetics and education, disciplines with a historically difficult relationshipShows that genetic influence is not the same as genetic determinism and that the environment matters at least as much as genesDesigned to spark a public debate about what naturally-occurring individual differences mean for education and equality
