Die Biokonversion mit Keratinase f hrt zur Herstellung von strukturell ver ndertem Federkeratin, das weniger resistent gegen den Angriff anderer Verdauungsenzyme ist. Zweitens kann durch die Zugabe von mikrobieller Proteinbiomasse, die als zus tzlicher Zusatzwert dient, eine erhebliche N hrstoffanreicherung des Federmehls erreicht werden. Drittens kann ein h herer Gehalt an Lysin in Futtermittelqualit t und anderen Aminos uren in biologisch behandeltem Federmehl angestrebt werden, indem zus tzliche Mikroorganismen zugesetzt werden, die ebenfalls Aminos uren durch Fermentation produzieren k nnen. Die biologische Umwandlung von Federn in Federmehl wird daher jetzt ernsthaft als Quelle f r die Erzeugung hochwertiger Nahrungsproteine in Betracht gezogen. Eine weitere wichtige neue Anwendung von Keratinase ist die Verwendung als Futterzusatz.
