Mark Twain had it all wrong: golf is not a good walk spoiled, golf is a journey. And when Ireland provides the map it becomes an 11,000km odyssey for one man in a camper van. Kevin plays every 18-hole golf course in Ireland in all kinds of weather and with all kinds of golfers. He deals with a leaky roof, potholes, born-again Christians and even an Irish mammy. Ireland's beauty shines through but the people encountered along the way, the golf clubs visited and the idiosyncrasies of a twenty-year-old camper van form the fairways on which this story plays. From tee-off to putting the final hole, this is a true Irish golfing adventure.

The people of the lost English-Welsh border town Goregree are losers and weirdos, sometimes pathetic, sometimes terrible. They all long for something more, but are trapped by poverty, disease, and addiction to a unique local drug.Inspired by the author's hometown of Bridgend, Bad Ideas \ Chemicals follows a group of 20-somethings on a bad night out in a depressed, strange little town. Markham started writing Goregree in his freshman year when Bridgend was in the tabloids for suicides and everyone was telling rotten jokes and a similar vein of gallows humour runs through this nightmarish social satire. One of Goregree's residents, Cassandra Fish believes she is out of this world, wearing her orange film-set spacesuit daily in the hope that her absent parents will return and take her back to her real planet. While she waits for that particular lunar window to open, she accompanies her friends - frustrated musician Francis, the only open mic player in the town and the laddish, volatile Fox - from bar to nightclub to the absurd dangers and darkness of the forest. As the young residents of the town lurch from one disaster to another, the story of Goregree itself comes into focus - a sad, dreamlike, hostile place, plagued with a mysterious bug infestation and haunted by the memories of a oncepromising future. A cracked, distorted mirror held up to the Western world's many abandoned, alienating towns. In the space of a night, the people of Goregree will drink, dance, take bad chemicals, have bad trips, have bad ideas, and do unthinkable things.
Late Gothic Sculpture in Northern Italy

Over the course of a century and a half more than forty late Gothic sculptures have been recognized as sharing a vocabulary of figure and facial types, drapery, wings, and hair. Despite the fact that all the works date from the second quarter of the fifteenth century, they were widely distributed throughout Northern Italy - from Udine in the east to Venice, Ferrara, Vicenza, Verona, Milan, Genoa, and Savona in the west. Payments for the greatest of these works, the Milanese Tomb of Giovanni Borromeo, name as its authors Filippo Solari and Andrea, both from Carona or its satellite Giona, towns in the Ticino close to Lake Lugano which gave birth to several famous dynasties of stonecarvers. How Filippo and Andrea and their numerous assistants, known generally as maestri caronesi, were linked and what kinds of organizations permitted such wide-spread activity over such a narrow span of time are questions asked here for the first time. On the basis of close analyses of comparable works, moreover, it proves possible - not only to identify the chief among these maestri caronesi as Andrea da Giona (d. 1449) - but to follow his career in Castiglione Olona, Milan, and Venice where he was preeminent during the transition from late Gothic to Renaissance sculpture.

Hope is in the heart of the believer. Mary Markham believed, and never gave up hope. Through the many trials she faced early in her life; trials of loss, sorrow, pain, disappointment, and betrayal, she put that darkness in God's hands and saw the light and hopefulness of joy, love, healing, and friendship. For each unexpected turn, roadblock, or detour, Mary learned to let go and let God. Now, in In God's Hands, she shares her life's journey from tragedy to triumph through seven chapters representing the "Seven gifts of the Holy Spirit," with the hope of helping you along your journey; to listen to the still, small voice, trust the Holy Spirit to guide you through it-whatever "it" is-to know you are not alone, that God will never leave you, and to believe there is always HOPE.Mary Markham is the founder of Inspirational Visions LLC (www.inspirationalvisionsllc.com), an author, mentor, and co-coordinator for Family Promise of Waukesha County a non-profit organization helping homeless families with children, and she is the contributing author of the bestselling book, The Miracle Effect. Mary enjoys sharing her God inspired simple messages; "Let go Let God," "I AM," and, "Broken Not Shattered," as well as spending time with her family, friends, travelling, biking, and gardening. Mary and her husband, Craig, reside in Wisconsin, and between them they have four independent and successful children.
