Das Ziel dieses Buchs ist, die Theorie der binaren quadratischen For- men, die im letzten Jahrhundert in ihren algebraischen Aspekten von GauB und in ihren analytischen Aspekten von Dirichlet entwickelt wurde, darzustellen. Diese Theorie, die frtiher zur normalen Ausbildung in der Mathematik gehorte, wird heute den Studenten oft nur als Beispiel ftir die moderne algebraische Zahlentheorie, analytische Zahlentheorie oder Klassenkorpertheorie prasentiert. Da sie aber eine groBe Schonheit be- sitzt und aUBerdem elementar zuganglich ist, halte ich es ftir zweck- maBiger, sie umgekehrt als Einftihrung in die genannten Gebiete zu be- nutzen, die ja historisch aus ihr hervorgegangen sind. Da das Buch eine Einfuhrung sein solI, sind die voraussetzngen mi- nimal gehalten, und zwar: - aus der Algebra die Grundbegriffe tiber Gruppen und Ringe und der Struktursatz fUr endlich erzeugte abelsche Gru pen; - aus der komplexen Funktionentheorie eigentlich nur die Begriffe "holomorphe Funktion", "meromorphe Funktion", "Residuum" und "ana- lytische Fortsetzung" (der eauchysche Integralsatz wird nie benutzt); - aus der Zahlentheorie etwa der Inhalt einer elementaren einsemestri- gen Vorlesung, insbesondere Kongruenzen, Legendre-Symbol, quadrati- sche Reziprozitat. Das Buch basiert auf Vorlesungen in Bonn (SS 1975) und Harvard (WS 1977) und ist als Vorlaufer eines umfassenderen Buches auf Englisch gedacht. In recent decades, they have also proved useful in several applications ranging from X-ray monochromators to tunable lasers. Because of this dual importance - both purely scientific and technological - a vast amount of information has been generated on all aspects of the alkali halides. This information has thus far been scattered throughout numerous journals and reference sources. This handbook brings together a wide range of information on the experimentally determined properties of the alkali halides. Some theoretically derived parameters have also been included. All the important literature from 1950 to 2000 has been surveyed. Providing in a single volume all essential information on the physical properties of alkali halides, this book will be a valuable reference for solid-state physicists and materials scientists.

In 1919 the world turned its attention to Paris where the victorious Allied and Associated Powers would attempt to restore order after four and a half years of war. Poland re-gained her independence in November 1918, after over a century of foreign rule, and beyond the influence of the peacemakers. The First World War may have ended as the Second Polish Republic emerged, but in eastern Europe the fighting did not end. One group caught up in this maelstrom was the Jewish minority of Poland who appealed for support from both Allied statesmen and international Jewish organizations. Circulating fluidized bed combustion (CFBC) is the modern technology for power generation in large scale as it makes use of efficient burning of the coal in fluidized bed combustion high pressure boiler. In CFBC, shape of primary air supply nozzle plays a vital role in creating air turbulence as combustion is carried out in fluidized state of coal. In the present work, CFD simulation is used to optimize primary air flow in combustion chamber by use of different nozzles namely mushroom, arrow head and pig tail. An analysis was conducted for individual nozzle as well as for the whole combustor by considering array of nozzles to determine the velocity of primary air in the combustion chamber. The results show that the maximum gas velocity was obtained in the case of the pig tail nozzle and its array is found maximum as 67.28 m/s and 80.20 m/s respectively. Furthermore, the simulated results of different nozzle types were found matching well with the available designed data. Further, the array of nozzles also show similar behavior represented in the previous literature.
