Von der Zwischenkriegszeit ber das Naziregime zur DDR und der Wende sind hier fast alle wichtigen Daten der deutschen Geschichte bezeugt. Fritz Klein berichtet ber seine Kindheit in den Goldenen Zwanzigern, zur Zeit des B rsencrashs und der Weimarer Republik, vom Jugendalter in der Nazizeit, aus dem Leben eines Wehrmachtssoldaten, der eigentlich gegen den Krieg ist und vom Leben eines politisch interessierten Historikers in der DDR. Diese Arbeit soll aber nicht nur den Werdegang des DDR-Historikers Fritz Klein behandeln, sondern auch die Funktionalisierung des Ersten Weltkrieges in der DDR anhand eines Artikels von Fritz Klein in der Zeitschrift f r Geschichtswissenschaft aus dem Jahr 1994. Nach einer Biographie des genannten Historikers folgt ein kurzer historischer berblick ber die politischen Ereignisse im Leben von Fritz Klein, welche sein Schaffen beeinflusst haben. Anschlie end wird der Erste Weltkrieg behandelt, da Fritz Klein sich als politisch interessierter Historiker sehr f r diese Zeit interessiert hat und seine Arbeiten auf diesem Gebiet noch heute als Referenz eine gro e Bedeutung haben. Au erdem wurde gerade der Erste Weltkrieg von der DDR oft zu politischen Zwecken herangezogen.
