As the centenary of the Great War approaches, citizens worldwide are reflecting on the history, trauma, and losses of a war-torn twentieth century. It is in remembering past wars that we are at once confronted with the profound horror and suffering of armed conflict and the increasing elusiveness of peace. The contributors to Bearing Witness do not presume to resolve these troubling questions, but provoke new kinds of reflection. They explore literature, the arts, history, language, and popular culture to move beyond the language of rhetoric and commemoration provided by politicians and the military. Adding nuance to discussions of war and peace, this collection probes the understanding and insight created in the works of musicians, dramatists, poets, painters, photographers, and novelists, to provide a complex view of the ways in which war is waged, witnessed, and remembered. A compelling and informative collection, Bearing Witness sheds new light on the impact of war and the power of suffering, heroism and memory, to expose the human roots of violence and compassion. Contributors include Heribert Adam (Simon Fraser University), Laura Brandon (Carleton University), Mireille Calle-Gruber (Universite La Sorbonne Nouvelle), Janet Danielson (Simon Fraser University), Sandra Djwa (emeritus, Simon Fraser University), Alan Filewod (University of Guelph), Sherrill Grace (University of British Columbia), Patrick Imbert (University of Ottawa), Tiffany Johnstone (PhD Candidate, University of British Columbia), Martin Loschnigg (Graz University), Lauren Lydic (PhD, University of Toronto), Conny Steenman Marcusse (Netherlands), Jonathan Vance (University of Western Ontario), Aritha van Herk (University of Calgary), Peter C. van Wyck (Concordia University), Christl Verduyn (Mount Allison University), and Anne Wheeler (filmmaker).

See how the thread of orthodoxy runs throughout the history of the church – even in the thousand years known as the “Dark Ages”. If you study church history closely, you will see that there is a continuous thread of faithful, glorifying theology that gives God due honour, that takes Scripture as the principal authority over life and faith, and that nourishes our wonder and worship. Despite its somewhat derogatory name, we can see that the light of the gospel was by no means extinguished in the millennium between 500 and 1500. Iain Wright and Yannick Imbert outline the story of this time through the lives of ten key figures of the Medieval Church: Leo the Great (400–461)Boethius (476–524)Alcuin (735–804)Gottschalk (814–868)Anselm of Canterbury (1033–1109)Bernard of Clairvaux (1090–1153)Peter Waldo (1140–1205)Bonaventure(1221–1274)John Wycliffe (1320–1384)Jan Hus(1372–1415) Chronicles 1,000 Years of Orthodox Theology: see God’s providence in the faithful teaching of truth throughout history Meet Key Historical Figures: some well–known, some less so, all in their place and time Written for a wide audience: non–academic writing style makes this a great read for anyone interested in history

*** IT IS POSSIBLE TO SEE WITHOUT EYES AND THIS BOOK EXPLAINS EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS CAPACITY. ***In some parts of the world this ability is known as dermovision, extraocular vision, dermo-optical perception (or DOP), VEO or EOV method, or infovision among many other names. In this book you will answer questions such as why we did not know that this was possible, how to explain such a capacity and, above all, how it can be developed. You will also learn some simple exercises to get started in this field from home and we will also observe other exciting intuitive abilities that can be awakened by doing this training. And it is that in the discovery of these possibilities we realize that human consciousness is much bigger than we have ever been told. An essential book to rediscover our true essence.

The locks are failing. The keys are calling. The Titans are waking. Crowned before her time, nineteen-year-old Natylia is thrust into an unpleasant reality--her people don't want her, her family doesn't need her and, despite her best efforts, she can't seem to shake an incorrigible suitor. But when rumors begin to swirl throughout her kingdom the young queen shifts her focus and realizes that the world she loves could be destroyed in an instant. An ancient enemy, long thought gone, is trying to return. Forgotten legends have resurfaced, stories that tell of three scepters: the keys to unleashing these foul beings. Across Araenna the hunt rages for this trio of formidable power--to command the keys is to hold the power of mortal gods. Aided by her snarky elven bodyguard, an unassuming blacksmith, and a clever nature witch, Natylia races to correct the mistakes of the past... before they can destroy her people's future.
