(Applause Books). Lawrence J. Quirk delves into every personal and professional aspect of Bob Hope's long, complex and dramatic life; rising by sheer dint of will to great wealth and fame. Why did Hope become so identified with sponsoring the Vietnam War? What's the real scoop on his relationship with Bing Crosby? How far astray did Hope's frankly oversexed nature lead him from the marriage he successfully maintained with Dolores for over sixty years? Quirk writes about Hope based on long experience. He knew and interviewed Bob Hope while serving as an army seargeant during the Korean War and later as entertainment editor, and interviewer of top stars for over forty years. Quirk approaches his subject with original observations born of years of studying this most celebrated, yet in some ways most mysterious of entertainment giants.

Why am I writing this? Quite simply because I Love Our God; I Love People, and I Love living in the Greatest Country in the world; a Country where my Dad was "M.I.A., presumed dead" for 17 months after WWII; A Country where so many brave men and women have given their all for; a Country where we have and will continue to, overcome anything that divides us; and we will continue to do so, by living "In God We Trust." However, the devil is now obviously working diligently to divide us, and now is the time for ALL People of God, People of Faith, People of Hope, and People of Love, to come TOGETHER and return Our Country, and so many souls, to "In God We Trust." Please read, so we can come TOGETHER and join hands, hearts, and prayers, "In God We Trust". I am 81 years old, married for 58 years, with four wonderful children, four original and fantastic spouses, and the blessing of 12 beautiful grandchildren, and even one great, great-grandchild. I grew up proud of God, proud of Country, proud of our military, and proud to contribute as best I could, to America and Americans. I do not like the direction Our Country is now headed, and my goal is two-fold - (1) returning to "In God We Trust;" and (2) joining hands with like-minded people, and God, in saving souls. I believe that the direction we are headed is the result of the Satanic infiltration of what I consider to be the three pillars of any society: Creation: God's Law, and The Family, and we all, including our churches, have to accept responsibility in order to reverse the trend. Together with God, we WILL do it, but there will be a price to pay. Please read on with an open mind to see how, I believe, TOGETHER, this will happen.

How much narcotic can a person stuff into a funeral urn? If the narcotic in question is the highly concentrated synthetic opiate known as fentanyl, the answer is about 4 million dollars worth.Rick Vaghn was not a happy man. Depressed and broke, still coming to grips with a war that ended for him a long time ago, he finds himself struggling to make ends meet as an independent mechanic in the big bad town known as LA. When a call from a local mortician interrupts his dull routine, he finds himself with an inheritance he never expected.Robert Hardy, Rick's old sergeant and mentor, is dead and Rick is the only person in his will. Bob leaves Rick with only two things-his 1965 Harley Davidson pan-head motorcycle and himself in the form of a box full of newly cremated ashes. Puzzled at this turn of events, Rick does not know what to do with either the motorcycle or the cremains until an old movie poster gives him an idea. To give Bob a sendoff worthy of an old Harley fan, Rick decides to drive Bob east, from LA to New Orleans, following the path that Fonda and Hopper took in the film Easy Rider. He and Bob would stop at every location in the movie and end the trip by spreading Bob's ashes in the notorious bar and whorehouse-the Big Easy's very own-Madame Tinkertoy's House of Blue Lights. A chance wreck on a back road in west Texas causes the urn full of Bob to be switched with an urn full of illegal narcotics and Rick's voyage of nostalgia goes wrong when he discovers that he has to somehow get Bob back without losing his own life.

Since the early 1960s, music fans have found Bob Dylan's spirituality fascinating, and many of them have identified Dylan as a kind of spiritual guru. This book, written by a scholar who is a longtime fan, examines Dylan's mystique, asking why audiences respond to him as a spiritual guide. This book reveals Bob Dylan as a major twentieth- and twenty-first-century religious thinker with a body of relevant work that goes far beyond a handful of gospel albums.

This is the third book in Adam Pollack's series on the heavyweight champions of the gloved era. Bob Fitzsimmons was boxing s first pound for pound great, winning the world middleweight title before becoming the world heavyweight champion (and later lightheavyweight champ). Combining both crafty skill and crushing power, Fitzsimmons was able to knock out heavyweights when he only weighed 158 pounds This meticulous and tremendously researched book uses multiple local primary sources from New Zealand, Australia, and America to chronicle Fitzsimmons' boxing career. It contains detailed fight descriptions never before revealed, round by round reports, pre- and post-fight analysis, daily training regimens, critical analysis of opponents careers, discussion of skills, techniques, strategies, strengths, and weaknesses, and explains how legal, political, social, and economic issues affected and impeded fights. The book also includes stories of fixed fights, conspiracies, legal battles, trials, threats of violence and imprisonment made by governors, judges, and militiamen, and verbal jousting, taunting, boasting, and even physical confrontations between Bob Fitzsimmons and James J. Corbett. 464 pages, 63 photos and illustrations, 969 footnotes, bibliography, index, and appendix (containing a complete Fitzsimmons career record). Adam J. Pollack is the author of John L.
