This book is a thematically driven anthology featuring the words and ideas of some of the best poets of the 21st. century. Rather than spell out how the themes unfold and evolve, I would rather you discover the truths within for yourself, in your own way, and with your own interpretations. For a poet, life encompasses the seen and the unseen, the obvious and the hidden, the esoteric and the mundane, and words contain a magic that elevates both writer and reader to a place of transcendence. Love, despair, hope, jealousy, nobility and mortality remain fundamental to the human experience, and for as long as that remains true, there will be poets and poetry.
Share this delightful Christmas story of childhood imagination. With simple 3x5 index cards, a brother and sister create a Christmas village filled with ingenuity and wonder. Before reading the book with your favorite child, make sure you have some index cards, sticky tape, colored markers and scissors on hand, as the child will be anxious to create his or her own unique Christmas Village after reading the story. About the Book: The Story of the Christmas Village was originally published as a paperback in 2006. It is a true story, simply written in a style appropriate for beginning readers. Yet, it wasn't written for the general public, but for our family, primarily for my mother. The book was a way to preserve the Christmas village that inspired the story. Various family members received copies of the book on Christmas, 2006. One was my sister, Lynn, a second grade teacher. A number of years went by before my sister came to me with an idea. She thought I should market the paperback with a packet of 3 x5 index cards, color markers, tape and scissors - a book/craft pack. Lynn told me she read the story to her class each year, and the students loved it. The story sparked their imagination. After reading it, they immediately wanted to make their own village from index cards. I never took her advice, but a few years later, when color eBook readers and iPads came on the scene, she urged me to turn the story into an eBook. She was still reading it to her class each year, and the students continue to respond to the story. Remember to pick up some index cards, tape, scissors and color markers before reading the story with your child.

Havasu Palms, A Hostile Takeover is the true story of one hard-working, pioneering family in the 20th century, and how their life's work was stolen-a theft sanctioned by the United States Government and the Chemehuevi Indian Tribe. When Americans greeted 1968, the country was at a crossroads. An unpopular war raged in Vietnam, the hippie exodus from Haight-Ashbury had occurred a few months earlier, Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated in April of that year, and Bobby Kennedy was killed a few months later. The country was preparing to send a man to the moon and while there were unverified reports of protesting women burning their bras, it was more a metaphor for the growing women's liberation movement. For one American family, 1968 was the beginning of a new adventure in a remote desert community in Southern California. They believed in the American dream, where hard work and honesty have just rewards. The family put their trust in government promises, despite the common belief among the country's youth that the federal government could not be trusted. Perhaps the family should have paid attention to that notion.
