The third novel in the Matthew Shardlake Tudor Mystery series--the inspiration for the Hulu original series Shardlake C. J . Sansom has garnered a wider audience and increased critical praise with each new novel published. His first book in the Matthew Shardlake series, Dissolution, was selected by P. D. James in The Wall Street Journal as one of her top five all-time favorite books. Now in Sovereign, Shardlake faces the most terrifying threat in the age of Tudor England: imprisonment in the Tower of London. Shardlake and his loyal assistant, Jack Barak, find themselves embroiled in royal intrigue when a plot against King Henry VIII is uncovered in York and a dangerous conspirator they've been charged with transporting to London is connected to the death of a local glazer. The fourth novel in the Matthew Shardlake Tudor Mystery series--the inspiration for the Hulu original series Shardlake In 1543, while Tudor England is abuzz with King Henry VIII's wooing of Lady Catherine Parr, Matthew Shardlake is working to defend a teenage boy, a religious fanatic being held in the infamous Bedlam hospital for the insane. Then, when an old friend is murdered, Shardlake's search for the killer leads him back not only to Bedlam but also to Catherine Parr-and the dark prophecies of the Book of Revelation. Donald J. Trump as White Male Prototype: Critique, Correction and Commentary

Far too many people don't pay attention to history which is why so many people, especially in America, fall prey to it. Had they been paying attention, they would have seen "Trumpism" alive and well throughout presidential history. I have documented a few examples but there are many more, believe me. This system could not have remained so racist, misogynistic and xenophobic for so long had there not been a system and a plan to hand the "baton of oppression" off from one cracker to the next. Donald Trump's escapades and cacophonies of emotive labeling are not the first time the white male ego paved the way for the eventual undermining of the nation's political system. I am a scholar in political science and have kept close watch on these white men and their egos. I sicken when these cry babies whine and ask about, "did you see/hear what Trump did today"? I am a history scholar and therefore I've read about and studied tens of thousands of Trumps throughout American history, and millions of examples of actions generated by these Trump-like individuals. I don't whine and cry - I preserve a record so that those who come after me will not continue to continual complaining and crying about that which I view as a white male norm. I have put together what I call "Trump Prototypes" as one part of this incredible analysis because so many presidential candidates before Trump committed the same kind of asinine mistakes that Trump has made, especially when it comes to their treatment of women, people of color and others. And let me add one more note. The media is involved in aiding and abetting Trump in his lies, his crimes, his perfidy, his cowardice and so on. As a journalist I know what the protocols and priorities should be, and in my view, for the sake of an ad sale, television and print have taken what should have been a slam dunk case of treason and sedition and stretched it out so that they could create more "special reports" and the like. In doing so, they covered Trump's ass, provided reasons and rationale for his lying tendencies and because he's a white male, they looked the other way in one case after the other. This fact is a key component of Trump as a white male prototype. The media is the voice of the American system. Look at how they came after us; how they castigated and critiqued the civil rights movement, the black power movement, the black arts movement, anti-segregation efforts and so on. There were no quarters given when it came to Black people and Latinos. But this is a white system with its own rules and in such a system bad guys make the news, if it bleeds it leads and "the hand that feeds, controls." Trump is America the way America doesn't want to see itself: vile, vulgar and devoid of values. He represents tens of millions of white folks who hold him up as a role model which explains why America is on the decline. When Trump said "Make America Great Again," what he really meant was "Make America GRATE Again." As you know, to "grate" something means to reduce it to small shreds by rubbing it on a grater, right? And another definition of grate is "to make an unpleasant rasping sound." To even her mention of the name "Trump" almost anywhere in the world literally grates on the nerves of most clear-thinking people. Only in America is he seen as someone with an active brain stem.
The second novel in the Matthew Shardlake Tudor Mystery series--the inspiration for the Hulu original series Shardlake In 1540, during the reign of Henry VIII, Shardlake is asked to help a young girl accused of murder. She refuses to speak in her defense even when threatened with torture. But just when the case seems lost, Thomas Cromwell, the king's feared vicar general, offers Shardlake two more weeks to prove his client's innocence. In exchange, Shardlake must find a lost cache of "Dark Fire," a legendary weapon of mass destruction. What ensues is a page-turning adventure, filled with period detail and history. "Atmospheric and engaging" (Margaret George), this second book in Matthew Shardlake Tudor Mystery series delves again into the dark and superstitious world of Cromwell's England introduced in Dissolution. These Studies in Matthew's Gospel by Wim J.C. Weren are the result of scholarly work carried out using recent methods in Biblical exegesis such as structural analysis, text semantics and intertextuality. Part One presents a new proposal regarding the macrostructure of Matthew's Gospel and discusses meanings of textual units from this Gospel on the basis of synchronic research. In Part Two, intertextual theories are described and practical tools are developed that enable us to identify various types of relations between texts from Matthew's Gospel and co-generic or co-thematic textual units from the Hebrew Bible, the Septuagint and early Jewish and early Christian writings. Part Three answers the question to what extent the ways in which the disciples are portrayed in Matthew is related to 'real' groups in the Matthean communities. The three successive steps are deliberately chosen and are in a complementary relationship to each other.
Since the early 1990s, whether elected representatives at the state and national levels should be limited to a specific term of office has been a contentious public policy question. Changing Members examines the case of Maine, which in 1996 became the first state in the entire nation where legislative term limits took effect in both chambers. Authors Matthew C. Moen, Kenneth T. Palmer, and Richard J. Powell have combined original survey data collected from Maine's legislators, several dozen interviews with legislators and other political elites, and participant observation of committee and floor proceedings to provide a complete picture of the new term limits' effects. Challenging conventional thinking on term limits and offering predictions of their likely impact in other states with citizens' legislatures, Changing Members is an essential source for citizens, elected officials and government workers, and scholars of political science.

"And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent." --John 17:3 In Your Light We See Light: A Reformed Theology of Divine Illumination argues that the doctrine of illumination is Trinitarian and participatory. We cannot know God apart from God. The Triune God transfers us from darkness to light, so we may see him, ourselves, and the world anew. Illumination is not merely cognitive; it turns a heart of stone into a heart of flesh. It involves life with God--hearing and being transformed by God's word. Paul C. Uyen begins with Scripture before retrieving the doctrine of illumination from Orthodox, Roman Catholic, and Reformed traditions, and revealing their areas of tension. Uyen articulates a Reformed perspective in conversation with other traditions.

The church today is in crisis. Our society views the church, for the most part, as archaic and irrelevant. It even appears to have lost the power to change the lives of the very ones that proclaim it to be the answer to the world's problems. The gospel that Jesus demonstrated during His earthly ministry and delivered to the church's leadership has all but evaporated. The church has reduced the gospel to a "salvation only" message, whose focus is individualistic and internal. The salvation only message has literally caused the church to become "saved but stuck". Many are saved but are unable to realize the joy of their salvation and the fulfillment that the gospel promises them. This is because they have yet to receive the rest of the gospel - or The Full Gospel When we embrace the Full Gospel, the church will again be a world changer. When we adopt the Gospel of the Kingdom that Jesus and the early church practiced and preached, many of the ills that the church is suffering, both individually and corporately, will disappear. This will only happen when the church embrace and teaches, not only a gospel of salvation, but the FULL Gospel of Christ .

The 10 Commandments have been a source of contention and misunderstanding in both secular and evangelical communities. The utility of the Commandments within these communities have come into question, many concluding that they no longer have any real meaning in our contemporary church and society. However, by taking another look at the Commandments from a Kingdom conscious perspective we discover another picture and story that provides the church and the believer its identity and purpose in the world. We discover that the Commandments are much more than merely a set of "dos and don'ts" given to Israel, but the revelation of a covenant that forms the foundation for the manifestation of God's heavenly Kingdom on earth This study on "The Commandments & The Kingdom" will provide you with a fresh and insightful understanding of the 10 Commandments that will both empower both the believer and church to realize their purposes on earth.
